did mew come first or did arceus

Because in pokemin gen 1 it was saying mew created pokemon
But gen 5 is weird because of acreus because it was an egg in nothingness and shaped the world

Well, this is sort of a 'chicken or egg' kind of thing. Neither came first, because each side would argue that their's came first.
Mew would support evolution, whereas Arceus supports creationism. It's like those two cannot exist without the other.
So, did Arceus come first? Or did Mew come first?
Depends. Who do you want to come first?

You do realize that Pokemon doesn't answer that question on purpose, right? Most of Pokemon speculation is headcanon. They do it that way intentionally. There is no one single right answer.

I myself subscribe to the Arceus theory, because the Mew progenitor thing didn't even really pop up/get mentioned until Gen 3 or 4 or so. They probably did that to coincide with Arceus anyway.

The best way to approach this question is with real world logic to prevent our heads from spinning. Mew is a Gen I Pokemon. Arceus is a Gen IV Pokemon. Case closed :)

^Bad logic.

R/B/Y only had the original 150 because no Pokémon from other regions had migrated there. As better communications were established between the regions, travelling between regions became more popular. Pokémon were migrated to regions that they were not originally indigenous to. The Pokédex was expanded to incorporate new Pokémon as the Main Character discovered them. As the character had never gone outside of Kanto, no Pokémon from other regions were included.

As for the question of which came first:
Mew's Pokédex entries say that it is the ancestor of Pokémon.
Arceus' Pokédex entries say that it created the universe before anything existed.
I think that it's fairly obvious which came first...

...Rhydon.

Rhydon was the first pokemon programmed into the very first game

Bulbasaur is #1 in the national pokedex

Arceus created the pokemon universe

Mew was the first pokemon to be trademarked and is the ancestor of all pokemon

so in many ways these 4 all have a right to be called the first pokemon

I don't really understand why Bulbasaur's Pokedex placement is relevant. Mew clearly predates Mewtwo and I think that's basically universally accepted, but it still comes after Mewtwo in both the Kanto and National Pokedex. Klink was only discovered 100 years ago but it still comes before Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem, who have all of these Unova legends based around them going back for centuries. In other words: the Pokedex orders aren't really indicative of discovery.

Rhydon's status as the first Pokemon is from a real-world perspective only, while the Mew vs. Arceus debate regards the fictional canon.

Obviously its Victini because its number 0 in the Unova dex.

I'd say Arceus. He created the entire universe. Then he could have created Mew, who gave birth to all of the other Pokemon.
