Almost done with my routing of all the non-gym leaders in Kanto... My pokes are around Lv. 58 while I also added the gyarados I trained on christmas day. Nothing new otherwise.

[color=olive]I have to say, longest battle ever! I'll post the pokemon I have with the next update with pokemon only from Kanto region...depending on how the story-line goes. As far as I can tell, it'll be only from the new region.

The rules I am using are on page 19 with extended rules on page 20.

I'm going to do another Nuzlocke on my Ruby version this time with a lot more lax rules than when I first did it on my FireRed. My rules I am going to use are.

Items can be bought, but they cannot be used in battle.
I must catch the first Pokemon I encounter in a route, shiny Pokemon are an exception to the rule.
Each Pokemon is allowed one revival, after that they are dead and gone.

Post subject:  Re: Nuzlocke Challenge

Hey I'm going to restart my Ruby game and try the Nuzlocke challenge! I'm following most of the basic rules:

Rules wrote:
1. Catch ONLY first pokemon seen on each route/cave/etc. (Exception is in beginning of game when I don't have any pokeballs)
2. Nickname all Pokemon.
3. Put all fainted/dead pokes in box labled "Dead".
4. If party is full and a pokemon is caught, put it box labled "Alive" and may use it later.
5. Do not buy any items, but may use any items found on the ground (or given by people, or even if caught poke is holding one!), but don't use any revives.
6. Set Battle Change option to set, not shift.

Extra Rules wrote:
7. I will trade a masterball from my Firered and may use it ONLY on any shiny pokes.
8. May buy two (or more) pokeballs to use ONLY for HM slaves.

I think I'm going to pick Torchic for the starter just because I like him the best. This is going to be fun! (and sometimes very frustrating!)

I'm also going to post my pokemon as follows:
{pokemon} Nickname @ Lv
Move1
Move2
Move3
Move4

I'm making this update quickly from my last post:

Party:
{torchic} Torchie @ Lv8
Scratch
Growl
Focus Energy
---

{zigzagoon} Sly @ Lv 3
Tackle
Growl
---
---

{zigzagoon} Ruffle @ Lv 2
Tackle
Growl
---
---

{wurmple} Wormy** @ Lv 4
Tackle
String Shot
---
---

Box: None

Dead: None

Before I fought May my Torchie actually died via CH water gun by a Wingull! But I felt too lazy to restart the entire game and all of that, so I just reset to my last save point and continued there.
I caught my Sly at Route 101 and suprisingly its nature was Jolly! Later I caught another Zigzagoon named Ruffle on Rout 103 and its nature was the exact opposite of Sly's- Timid! And on Route 102 I caught my Wormy. Before fighting ANYONE on Rout 102 I'm going to grind my entire team several levels (hopefuly to Lv 10).

**Unfortinatly I just realized I forgot to nickname my Wormy!!! :o But once I get to the Name-rater's place I'll rename him (even if he died!)

Died from Zigzagoon's CH Tackle.

First of all, I traded a Masterball to Ruby in case of any shinies. Then I caught a Taillow, which was really easy to train! Later I caught a Shroomish, but sadly he eventually died from a Zigzagoon's CH Tackle- my first death! On Route 116, I was hoping to catch a Nincada, but instead another Zigzagoon came! I was forced to catch him though. And in that tunnel place, I caught a Whismur, but he's pretty easy to train.
Also, my Zigzagoons' pickup are getting my a lot of items, like ultra balls, and full restores! (Although I had to sell a few Revives).
I'm going to grind my team to level 20 before doing the Gym. Hopefuly I'll evolve Whismur at such an early progress!

Is it just me or is Pikachu the weakest pokemon ever? I got lucky in Viridian Forest, it was the first pokemon I saw. Now I'm grinding it to beat Misty and, at level 19, almost got 1HKOd by a level 14 rattata's quick attack critical hit. Its defense stat is still in the teens, and I feel like Misty is going to destroy it, anyone else have better luck with a pikachu in firered?

I'm playing it so I can't level my pokemon higher than the town gym leader's highest leveled pokemon, so level 21 is my ceiling till I beat Misty. I'm guessing pikachu (sparky) is gonna die but it's not a big deal, I'll catch a stronger electric type in the power plant later on

Post subject:  Re: Nuzlocke Challenge

After a 4 year(ish) absence from Psypokes I started hovering around to find out about Black & White, and got rather engrossed in this challenge.

So I decided to take up the challenge on Pearl, the only pokemon game I own that I have never completed, due to the ridiculous amount of added evolutions and the fact that my Wireless Router uses a WPA secruity code rather than a WEP meaning I can't access Nintendo's Wi-Fi system for trades. After around the first 4 routes I'm going to be flying this game blind, which will be fun I suppose.

Anyway, enough on me nattering on. Will follow all rules with afew minor tweaks from what I can tell...

1) No items other than TM's I find (including Gym Leaders) and HM's
2) 1 Pokemon per route, 1st encounter. Am allowing myself to double back to the lake where yuou find your started and the first route you traverse when you have no Pokeballs.
3) Faint = Dead = Box if I like the Pokemon, Release if i don't
4) Everything much have a nickname

And so it begins...

So far around 10 mins played, just got Pokedex from Rowan, already regretting doing this on Pearl.

Trainer, Male, Ben

Lvl 6 {turtwig} Lil'Foot (Land Before Time FTW)
Careful Nature (Very happy about that, STAB EQ isn't reduced and will give me more resilience to most Fire and Ice)
- Tackle
- Withdraw

God, I don't even know what lvl the first gym is...this is going to be a struggle.

EDIT: Currently 2:30 minutes into my 'adventure', still yet to move past the small 30 patch slab of grass where Dawn shows you how to catch pokemon. This is just out of plain fear and ignorance of what lays ahead, I don't want to be losing pokemon this early.

But anyway, after I got some pokeballs I doubled back to Route 201, closed my eyes and prayed that I didn't get a Bidoof. Luckily I didn't and I got a {starly} instead. Did a lil'grindin and went back to Route 202. Hope for a Shinx, first pokemon I encountered was a pokemon I didn't even know existed. {kricketot}.

Done some more levling up, but now Jiminy (Kricketot) has got to lvl 9 and Bide is just wasting my time. Battles are forever going like this:

Wild Bidoof Appears
Jiminy uses Bide
Bidoof Uses Tackle (- 1 HP)
Jiminy is storing energy (or whatever it says)
Bidoof uses Tackle (-1 HP)
Jiminy unleashes Energy
Bidoof uses Tackle (-1 HP)
Repeated 4 times.

So yeah, out of Boredom I shall soldier on with as follows...

Lvl 12 {turtwig} Lil'Foot
Careful Nature
- Tackle
- Withdraw
- Absorb

Lvl 12 {starly} Jessie
Gentle Nature (Meh, it'll do I suppose, not pegging back my speed or attack)
- Tackle
- Growl
- Quick Attack
- Wing Attack

Lvl 9 {kricketot} Jiminy (Pinocchio anyone?)
Hardy Nature (Neutral, it'll do)
- Growl
- Bide

Oh and sorry about the biblically long post, itwas either this or Double Posting.

Post subject:  Re: Nuzlocke Challenge

Cheers KingErick, look forward to seeing you go through Pokemon Yellow under these rules, from what I remmeber (I was about 6) that game was soluid. lol.

But anway, by the looks of things I play this game too much, so I'm going to have to keep these updates coming reasonably fast otherwise this will change a truly ridiculous amount between them.

I'm up to 10 hours game time now, on a normal play through I think I'd have atleast 3 badges by now, but I've only just cleared out Valley Windworks. -_-

Anyway, between my last update and now, not much happened really. I've grinded alot, OHKO all of Roark's (thinks that was his name) Pokemon, had a scare with my lovely Staravia and some fat cat and taken my first loss. But thats about it.

First lose was to my lovely Onix, who I fully intended to use as a Rock Smash, Strength, Rock Climb Slave. Started to do I bit of grinding with him and BAM Lvl 4 Budew Critcal Hit absorb. Oh, Severus, I hardly knew yee. :'(

Anyway, team wise, first off, the veterans.

Lvl 22 {grotle} Lil'Foot - Curse, Bite, Tackle, Razor Leaf
Lvl 21 {staravia} Jessie - Endeavor, Double Team, Quick Attack, Wing Attack

And, meet the new guys!

Lvl 22 {buizel} Buoy (It's a girl, hehe)
Rash Nature (Could of been worse I suppose...)
- Pursuit
- Swift
- Aqua Jet
- Water Gun

First pokemon i found on route 205, think I was quite lucky in that respect, have only seen about 4 more in my two/three hours grinding on that route.

Lvl 16 {kadabra} Kazza
Quiet Nature (Died a little on the inside when I saw that)
- Teleport
- HP Ice (Was sooooooooo happy)
- Confusion

In game Trade for a Machop I found on route 207. Doesn't Obey, but once I get my second badge, I'm sure it'll become an integral member of the team.

Lvl 5 {geodude} Roxanne
Nature, I dunno
- Some Moves
- Rock Smash

Yeah. For lack of Bidoof, Roxanne will do for mini HM slave for now.

Box wise...

Lvl 4 {starly} James
Lvl 5 {starly} Butch
Lvl 6 {zubat} Zephyr - Fully intended to use him, then found out he had Timid nature, just no.
Lvl 19 {kricketune} Jiminy - Levelling this guy up just took SOOOOOOO long, so I boxed him. I think around 4 hours of my current game time was getting him up this far.

Time for me to grind in the first stage of the Elite Four. My team has gotten to almost Lv. 60, with bluerush (gyara) at around Lv. 53.

Platinum is my main focus right now, as I've been playing it almost all last week. I am grinding a full on back-up team before I go face Cyrus and his goons in Mt. Coronet. I traded a medicham so I could get a Gengar and the damn girl gave it an effing everstone! I released it the second I got to a pokemon center cause of how pissed I was. My primary team is about Lv. 45-49 and my secondary team just passed 30 yesterday. Swablu is my favorite on my secondary team while Growlithe is my primary favorite (he will get a fire stone @ Lv. 48).

Post subject:  Re: Nuzlocke Challenge

Right weekend is over, so these won't be coming as thick and fast anymore, but here we go none the less...

Firstly, I must admit, this 'challenge' isn't really getting me more attached to my pokemon. I fact, I've started to notice these rules are not far off from what I would normally do anyway, the only differences being Faint = Dead and 1st pokemon on each route. And even those aren't to much of a hassle because I don't catch many pokemon, and I grind so much that I'm able to OHKO almost everything I meet. Maybe as I get further into it I might start feeling more involved.

Anyway, since last time, no more loses, have missed about 6 pokemon I was allowed to catch, so my Back-Up box is looking kind of empty. Moar Badges, Moar grinding.

Got my team up to lvl 26 (bar Kazza) then went and and took out Gardenia. Jessie OHKO'd everything.

Then, grinded my whole team up to Lvl 36 (bar Kadabra again, started ignoring me at 31), went to Veilstone and Jessie repeated the whole process again, 2 Aerial Ace and 1 Close Combat and her team were down. And thats where I stopped.

Team

Lvl 36 {torterra} Lil'Foot
Careful Nature
- Leech Seed
- Curse
- Earthquake
- Razor Leaf

Lvl 36 {staraptor} Jessie
Gentle Nature
- Aerial Ace
- Close Combat
- Quick Attack
- Wing Attack

Lvl 36 {floatzel} Buoy
Rash Nature
- Crunch
- Swift
- Aqua Jet
- Water Gun

Lvl 31 {kadabra} Kazza
Quiet nature
- Recover
- HP Ice
- Reflect
- Psybeam

Lvl 16 {bibarel} Bucko
HM SLAVE

Box

{starly} x2, {zubat}, {bronzor}, {geodude}, {psyduck}, {kricketune}, {bidoof}

Dead

Post subject:  Re: Nuzlocke Challenge

Just remembered that although I have been taking the challenge, I haven't been posting on here, so here we go..
Leaf Green Nuzlocke
Team:

{charizard} Lighter
Naive nature
Flamethrower, Mega Punch, Rock Slide, Slash
LV 37

{starmie} Patrick
Rash nature
Thunderbolt, Surf, Psychic, Recover
LV 38

{exeggutor} Sunny D
Timid nature
Giga Drain, Sleep Powder, Sunny Day, Confusion
LV 36

{pidgeot} Sweet Ride
Adamant nature
Fly, Aerial Ace, Quick Attack, Featherdance
LV 35

{jolteon} FastAs****
Hasty nature
Shock Wave, Secret Power, Quck Attack, Toxic
LV 37

{persian} CashMoney
Quirky nature
Return, Slash, Pay Day, Bite
LV 38

I've been lucky enough to have only lost my pidgey that I had to use as fodder against brock so that my starter wouldn't die. It was Lv 4 anyways so I felt a little less badly about it. I just beat Koga, who was a huge pain in the ass and got poison hax like it was his job.

Now that I've rally looked at my team, I just realized I got lucky as hell on my natures. Most of them are kick- ass.
