I've just bought a copy of diamond and I want to trade a new team over from pearl to use.. I just want to know what's the soonest point I can trade them over?
And does it matter if I want pokemon from the national dex?

I think you should be able to trade via local wifi when you get the Pokedex. That's how it was in RBY/GSC, anyway. For wifi, you'll need the pal pad, which isn't available until Oreburgh(sp?), correct me if I'm wrong on that one. By the way, it doesn't matter if the Pokemon are in the Sinnoh dex or not. I traded a shiny Zangoose to Diamond to play through the game with before my third badge. Their dex number in their profile will just be ???. |

They'll disobey unless you have the proper amount of badges. |
