The first game I ever played was a friend's Blue version... for like, five minutes. Had no idea what to do.

The first one that was actually mine that I played was Ruby version, though I let a friend borrow it so he could train my team... he actually knew what he was doing. I'd started with Treecko, you see, and it, along with Groudon, were my highest-leveled Pokemon on the game. Still are, but it got more even.

First one I beat was FireRed, which I got with the money I recieved for making it to the Regional level of the Scripps Spelling Bee, back in early '05.

Generation I FTW! All the way back when there were only 151 pokemon. My first game was pokemon red, then I started to collect the rest of the games.

Like all knowledgeable Pokemon master, I started out with Pokemon yellow. When I was 4 years old, my brother got Pokemon yellow for his 7th birthday. See, at this time, i didn't have a gameboy or anything. I picked up his hot pink gameboy colour, and played yellow whenever i got the chance. Now, by the time I turned 5, I already knew more about the game than he did, and for my 5th birthday, I got Pokemon Silver, and by the 3rd gym, i knew it was the greatest thing ever created. But for some reason, it makes me mad whenever i see a kid who starts at the third generation. Maybe because they are completely clueless about the first two generations, which everyone knows, were the best.

I started out with Blue in my friend's car. She had brought her Gameboy and her game, and she was falling asleep during the trip while I was wide awake and bored, so I borrowed her game and started playing. She wasn't very far through the game, she had only beaten a few gym leaders (I don't remember exactly where she was landed though, I was 11 at the time). We drove for about maybe an hour, so I had some time to get to know how to fight, and yes, catch a Pokemon (I had a bit of trouble with that, and since my friend was sleeping, I couldn't ask her for help). I borrowed her game a few times after that, bringing it home so I could play it on my GameBoy advance. I eventually got up to Victory Road, but I gave her the game back after that, so I didn't face the Elite 4.

That same summer, I went out of town to a place where they sell used games and other electronic stuff. At first I wanted Yellow (I knew they had Pokemon games, that's where my friend had went), but the man told me he had just sold his last copy and that the only game he had left was Red. I bought it, only the game, without the box nor the instruction booklet (it was a used game after all). The price tag is still on it, though the number has faded a bit since. I remember choosing {charmander} as a starter, because he was a fire type and was effective against the Pokemon I absolutely wanted to catch, Pikachu. I played with my friend for hours at her place, her playing Blue and me Red. But it would get a bit frustrating when the sun would set, because her having a GameBoy Advance SP (the one where the screen has a built in light) and me the classic one, we'd have to go back inside so I could see, and we always prefered playing outside.

I still have the game, I don't play much though, since I bought LeafGreen last year and have been much more into it. My friend still has her Blue, but like me, she plays a newer version, Sapphire, which she had got for her birthday one year. She's the only person I know who still plays Pokemon these days (my other friend who likes Pokemon owning only a very old video game console) and we occasionally get together to trade and battle.
