How exactly do you teach Pichu surf? I know you have to have Pokemon Box, but I don't know what you need to do after that.

Other than hacking, I thought you could only get a *special event* pikachu that knows surf.

You have to transport 1499 Pokemon onto Box. Then the last slot is filled with a Pichu that knows Surf.

However, if you want a Surfing Pichu from Box to transport to Diamond and Pearl, don't bother. Because Surf is an HM in Generation III, Pal Park won't let you transport a Surfing Pichu, Pikachu or Raichu if it knows that move. You can get a Surfing Pikachu from Pokemon Battle Revolution, even though any such Pikachu from PBR is Hardy (and Hardy is a horrible nature), but right now there is no way to get a Surfing Pichu in Generation IV.

Well, recently, there was a Nintendo Power event and the Pikachus weren't Hardy anymore.

Okay, thanks. That's going to be a lot of pokemon to catch. Can you store pokemon from multiple games?
