The best is Leaf Green Because U can catch a Silver Ponyta and turn it to a Silver Rapidash. Oooh...Sorry also Fire Red. Horay for Silver Ponyta  and Silver Rapidash  .

Johto had: Morning/Day/Night, in game clock, 230 some pokemon in one game, 16 badges, Red in Mt. Silver, Custom Pokeballs, Amphy teh Ampharos, etc. Exactly why I loved Silver. Also, my friend actually had the gold version so I could trade with him. Ponyta_rapidash, introduce yourself to the edit button. (Sorry if I sound...moddish?  )
EDIT: I found my Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Silver today, and I couldn't stand the graphics of either one. But Silver is still my favourite) |

Gold/Silver/Crystal.i like the day and night effects and beating the elite four again and again just to fight red.It was more fun than the other versions i've played so far |

Krisp said it all. Except I vote for the slightly better Crystal. Not even the gba games couls match its longevity. 16 badges is just plain awesome, as is the telephone (works better than in R/S/E, those guys in G/S/C actually gave you items...) and the time feature (besides, you could actually tell when it was morning, day or night.... amazing for a gb game, I think). Finally, G/S/C had the toughest trainer ever to grace a pokemon game: Red. What, he owned me like a hundred times before I actually won... 
For the improvements over the original games, its longevity and originality, I vote Crystal. |

i voted for Gold and Silver.because there is  and  and Red really pushed my  and  to lv 100.I've never played crystal before though i really want to...my mother won't let me so she threw my Game Boy colour away

Pokemon Red,Blue,Yellow are the original ones. My favorite starters are    .
My favorite generation is Kanto. Kanto is the best. Jhoto is the 2nd best. Hoen is the worst. 
The fourth generation is the ?????????????????????????. I played pokemon RBY RSE FRLG. (I never played GSC.) I want to buy gold,silver or crystal but in my country pokemon is bannned. (I live in the middleast). |

Emerald and Crystal get my votes. But i voted Crystal for the awsomeness of going back to Kanto after E4. Emerald has lots of great additions - Match Call, Interrupted Battles ( e.g. Hiker and a Picnicker ) and Teddiursa, Miltank and Smeargle being available to name a few. Metallic generation ruled though. |

i voted for Emarald version. It has new features like Battle Frontier etc...! Although Emarald version does noy have pokemon(s) like  , it is still a good name.
