I only nickname the pokemon I like, such as

{eevee} Elva
{typhlosion} Jasdevi
{lugia} Ryuugia
{lapras} Rapuras
{flareon} Flareosion

And quite a few more!

The only nicknames that I put on my pokemon are for my competitive teams. I'm not sure why.

I Think nicknames are good, if they sound nice. I mean, {charizard} named jackson does not sound good, but {charmeleon} named Zippo sounds funny! I have nicknamed only one time:

{pikachu} Pika

{koffing} / {weezing} Koffy / Wezzy

{tangela} Ta-chan

{hitmonlee} Mon-Chan

{blastoise} Blasty

{golbat} ba-kun

I don't use nicknames for the sole reason that I lack the creativity to come up with good ones. I promise you though, if ever I come up with a good nickname, I'll use it.

I nicknamed all my pokemon in RSE but after that I stopped naming
I named a Camerupt Chump LOL
