I know, I know, you mabye thinking, "This dude's a foo! Spirit and Sable have no weaknesses. But these pokemon aren't as "broken" as you think. Why does everyone forget Foresight? Use that, and shouldn't they be weak to fighting types?

Yes, they should, but Foresight is generally not a common competitive move...

But it is kinda pointless - use foresight one turn then super effective the next... which is just as powerful as two normal-effective moves... with the added downside that if you don't want to attack the next turn, the turn before is wasted

But yes, it is a good point that many people miss :)

But spiritomb can't get wonderguard. if it had trace then maybe, but it's got pressure instead.

I think he means if you got an AR, and somehow made a Wonderguard Spiritomb/hack wonderguard onto a Spiritomb.

it'd be interesting trying to take a beast like that down. on the team i'm building i've got 3 that could possibly take something like that on.
I'm glad the only way to get something like that is via a hack.

hmm, just wondering but is it possible to skill swap a traced wonderguard. i doubt it is, but if it was then it'd be the only legit way to make that monster.

Umm, even if a Sableye and a Spiritomb has wonder Guard, they can still easilly faint! Remember, Destiny Bond, Toxic, Perish Song, Curse (done by Ghost pokemon) and Will-O-Wisp! No matter what a Pokemon does, it is never invincible! That is why I think skill swap should have been allowed on Wonder Guard, because of what I have stated. Every real trainer, definately knows, that there is NO ULTIMATE STRATEGY! No matter what, you can and will be beaten!

i agree with the above comment.

Wonder guard really isn't such a sweet-ass ability. Sure it blocks all but super-effective attacks, the solution, don't use damaging attacks.

As Ryan_dan said, there are many other techniques that can be used to bring down a wonder guarded spiritomb(even if such a thing was honestly possible)

Toxic, perish song, willowisp, confuseray, curse, leechseed, supersonic, switcheroo/ toxic orb, toxic spikes, stealth rock, spikes, foresight/odour sleuth/miracle eye followed by a fighting attack. Quite a few ways to achieve victory there.

well yes, we know that. However, in battles with other players (Where ELSE would you find a hacked pokemon) you may be forced to confront things like Berries, hacked Healing Techniques (if you can give a Spiritomb Wonderguard, you can probably give it Refresh), or other things that make Wonderguard Spiritombs a "Throw-your-DS-out-the-window-and-scream-after-it" experience.

And OF COURSE I know that the only way for a Spiritomb to have Wonderguard is to hack it. Unfortunately, it's a very popular hack.

No, wonder guard does not block status or weather effects, only damaging moves

One of the reasons I always try have at least one pokemon with destiny bond and one pokemon with a status effect.

Another way could be a torment-encore combo causing them to struggle half the time, since they still take recoil damage.

Meh, if I come across a 'Wonderguard Spiritomb', I shut off the DS. I'd rather play against people using legitimate pokémon.

but rest would solve all those problems. if you can never hurt it except to do slow draining damage like poison, burn, leech seed, curse etc it only has to rest every couple of turns. i know rest will wear out eventually, but that thing would probably do considerable damage to your team in the mean time.

the only way i could see to beat it is to have as many of those effects as possible. leech seed is a must as is a ghost curse (but who really uses them anyway - maybe the occasional dusclops or its evolution?). that will do 3/8 damage each move. if they use rest they wont survive to wake up and rest again. but yeah, its pretty unlikely youll be able to in a position to beat it.

and for the person who suggested skill swapping wonder guard should be legal, these are the kind of reasons its not. every double battle would basically consist of both teams trying to create a sableye/spiritomb with wonderguard as quickly as possible. it would also mean that there would have to be someone with foresight (or equivalent) in every team. it would get pretty boring - do you agree?

I think all of the comments are correct, but when I battle my friend that has a wonderguard spiritomb, I use a darkrai and use dark void followed by nightmare to defeat him. Dark void can make spiritomb asleep and then nightmare can make spiritomb's HP decrease. And also with darkrai's ability "bad dream", it can make spiritomb's HP decrease more big. :)

Why on earth does everyone forget that a wonderguard spiritomb (or sableye) can easily be destroyed by any pokemon with a fighting move and scrappy? Especially if you can get a fast Machamp? One mach punch or any other STAB move would make quick work of them.

Machamp cannot obtain the Scrappy ability legally & if it had foresight then some above arguments but the usefulness of that to rest I would think...

Kangaskhan or another pokemon with a Fighting Type move & the ability Scrappy on the other hand would probably be able to easily destroy those 2 even with Wonderguard...

Ok first of all since spiritomb and sableye have no weakness there stats are in the basement ( magikarp's is underground ) because if they had good or great stats no one would competitive battle without one because no one uses a poke with foresite
