I have a theory I would like to share with everyone. I recently watched ''The Ghost of maidens peak'' and it had me thinking.... When people of the pokemon world die, they turn into....    
Just a thought, because how else do you get ghost into the world? Plus, the fact that Gastly can speak english. |

Interesting. But I don't think that's how it goes. Otherwise Nintendo would get in a lawsuit for "Reincarnation". Well sort of... |

I always thought they were the ghosts of deceased Pokemon, not people. |

Thats my theory. i agree with you.....i mean other than in movies and that ghastly....which other pokemon actually speaks....have you heard (catholic) that theory that after 7 years of your death...you are reborn in anything.....it can be animal....about 0.006827 are the chances of being human (cientifically)........................ |

I belive what Skull Kid said was true, I mean, the ghost do appear in Pokemon graveyard(ish) places, that would make sense, OR... they are ghost of people then I think it would be... the peacful people

well tell me exactly which scientific paper published in which journal approved by how many peer reviews confirmed the existence of reincarnation and DETERMINED THE CHANCES OF BEING HUMAN?? i dont remember...i was looking trough google....one of my hobies is to investigate and im into this catholic thing...and you dont have to be a scientist to figure out that....just make an average of the animals in the world and divide it into how many they are....plus pokemon holds this kind of creationist stuff...that mew(or i dont remember who) created the world by a miracle....its explained on the first and second movies i think.....thats why........so it doesnt have to be really logica...like some say "the best ways to do hard stuff.....are ocassionally the easiest"(or the dumber....) This theory means that over time, there will be more and more Ghost Pokemon in the world as Pokemon die over time. How can that be? |

Therefore it is contradictory in a way. Does anyone believe in reincarnation? Maybe they didn't think it out properly before making the show. |

Might be mistaken but I know there is at least one major religion that does. Anyway, I think what black_flygon was trying to say originally was that IF you are reincarnated after death, scientifically that is your chance to come back as a human. He never said that it has been scientifically proven that reincarnation exists. |

In short, I don't think this theory is true. Mainly because you can breed two Pokemon and get baby Gastly, Misdreavus, Shuppet and Duskull. Therefore, nobody "died" to make that new Ghost Pokemon. Pokemon either die and are buried, or they become ghosts of their NORMAL FORM. The ghost of Marowak in Pokemon Tower, anyone? I'm also struggling to see why this was moved to Anime, but whatever... |

This is getting scary. Why don't we ask the game freakers to tell us the REAL answer? Maybe there are human ghosts and pokemon ghosts in pokemon world. Maybe when a pokemon dies it has a chance of turning into a ghost of its own kind or come back as a ghost pokemon. Maybe it's the same for humans. Maybe the show just doesn't folow the game and vice versa. I don't know... |

i have an addition to the theory. you see "ghosts" in their normal state are in that state to perform a certain and specific thing that they need to do in order to move on with their life...err afterlife (i like ghosts), but anyway, what my guess is, is that when a pokemon dies but wants to keep on battling it becomes a ghost pokemon egg and also an addition to the list  = pokemon who like to cause mischief
