I like lots of Pokemon. And I shall use both icons AND names at my leasure! The legendarily mediocre power of the keyboard is mine! Bwahahahahaha... hahaha, ha... ha... ha... Geh...

Flygon: It's just cool, and cute, simultaneously, and thus it is awesome. And it can Fly without being flying type. It's also sort of a mythical Pokemon without being a legendary. I'm planning on getting a shiny Trapinch on Pearl. I have a Jigglypuff (male) and Paras, both traded from HeartGold, just for that purpose.
Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite: The first pseudo-legendary evolution line, but besides that, I just like them. And past Larvitar & evos, none of the pseudo-legendaries were that great to me, unless Flygon counts. And I watched Miniryuu Densetsu (Dratini's Legend) recently.
Mew: It's very cute and mascot-like, though mysterious, as well as being the first Pokemon in-game (not by Dex number.) and in real life, and the first 'mini secret legendary' or whatever the widely used term is. It's also the only truly mammalian Pokemon, that is, unless hatching an egg counts as giving birth; in R/B/G/Y/FR/LG, one of the memoes in the Cinnabar Mansion reads:

Mew gave birth.
We christened the newborn Mewtwo. [Mew II? Christened? I hope they didn't break a bottle of champaigne over his head...]
So Mewtwo's (in-game) birthday is Febuary 6th. Yay. And 'the' Mew is a female. It can also learn all 101 TM/HM moves, (92 TMs and 9 HMs, counting Defog and Whirlpool seperately) which gives it huge variety in terms of moveset. Also, you can get multiple semi-legit Mews in R/B/G/Y, and thus G/S/C, using the Mew glitch.
Riolu and Lucario: I've liked this knightly fighter with unclear name origins since the Movie 8, which was sadly the last movie with voice acting that doesn't make one beg for deafness. Lucario is my favorite Fighting type Pokemon because it can learn many different types of moves, and can fight proficiently with both Special and Physical attacks. (Red Mages for the win!) And it has a cool ability set for things like Smash Bros.
Suicune: It's graceful and powerful, and unlike later legendary trio members, it doesn't look like it was made by a mad scientist. It's also a mammal-based water type, which I like, and it doesn't have completely element-centric moves.
Rattata: 'Cause it's cute and it > other Pokemon of it's archetype. (in my opinion.)
Sandshrew and Sandslash: They're pretty cool, and I like the little overworld sprite from HGSS. I have one on my main team in HeartGold, though she only has one Ground move. (Earthquake, via TM26.)
Cubone and Marowak: I don't know why, but I've taken a liking to them recently. Maybe they're just that cool.

from gold was the best pokemon I have ever had. Had alot of good other ones since but that thing was the first poke i got to level 100 and it was my workhorse my go to guy, my alpha dog my kobe of my team.
