Post subject:  Seasons?
Wouldn't it be cool if they introduced seasons in Pearl/Diamond? It works almost the same way as the day/night feature where you can only catch certain pokemon during certain times, except that each week could be a different season. (Ex. flying, bug, and grass pokemon can be more common during spring/summer, while the ice pokemon dominate winter when most of the normal pokemon are hibernating.)

Another neat feature would be that some pokemon can evolve into different forms in relation to the weather. One good example is Eevee, who can evolve into its grass form during spring/summer and into its ice form during autumn/spring. (Maybe they could change it to where it evolves into Espeon or Umbreon using the sun/moon stone.)

The only problem with using seasons is that those who lack patience wouldn't want to wait an entire month to catch the pokemon they wanted. But anyway, tell me what you think. Good idea?

Swift is right, it would be a bit impractical, but it would be cool!
In the spring, Everything would be colorful, and flowers would bloom.
In the summer there would be more trainers, because there would be no school.
In the fall, all the trees would change colors, and leaves would be on the ground.
And in the winter, your character would have to get a coat, and you would have to walk through snow, you couldn't bike through it.
Terribly impractical, but cool! :D

For autumn it could be like the soot on the ground at Route 112 in RSE - only it'd be leaves instead! Yeah, that would be cool, and maybe certain Legendarys could only be seen in their hideouts in the right Season! That'sd be so nifty!

I think having the seasons correspond to the real seasons is impractical. I wouldn't want to wait three months to see special graphics.

IMO, having seasons affecting Pokemon appearances makes the game more realistic. If so, the original "one week = one season" idea by Flannery would work fine.

No way, that's too drastic. It takes 6 hours for it to change from low tide to high tide in RSE, and you're suggesting 5 to 24 hours for the season to change? It's illogical that seasons change faster than the tide :P

A week still seems the most reasonable to me.

Yeah that was exactly what I was gonna say! I'd just love to have snow, and more Ice Pokemon available during it. It'd make catching that dratted Delibird a whole lot easier! :P {delibird}

If we were to put all of our ideas into a game, apart from having a pretty rockin game, we'd need about 24 DS's to contain the memory we'd need!

Yes that would be cool if we could all just create our own game. We could use the storyline from my fanfiction: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~psypoke/for ... php?t=5153
and we could use the seasons idea, and we could use the day and night feature, everybody could come together and make a whole new set of pokemon. ANd we could even put some new items in! That would be awesome! We could decide which pokemon would return and there would be no nintendo events! We could design the towns and everything! ANd each team could work on a different part of th game! Team Hydro: towns and cities; Team Inferno: types and gym leaders and E4s; Team Midnight: storyline; Team SOlar: Pokemon; Team Psyche: Misc. things!
IT would be perfect! The best Pokemn game ever! Even our own intro!

ANyway back to seasons. Yeah seasons would be pretty cool. But I would hate to wait three months to catch a jynx. So yeah it would be better if it was just aesthetical(or whatever that word is). But yeah it is a pretty cool idea. I would love it and you could just play in the snow with your pokes and stuff. You could have regular seasons like three months if there was a way to get the pokemon you wanted faster. You could use this HM move called WAKEUP to wakeup all the hibernating pokemon. ANd you could alternate the seasons using a special machine. ANyway jynx should be wild and im glad i dint get yellow version seein g as jynx wasnt available

I suppose, but I do think that Kyogre and Groudon do a good enough job with their special ability. I think constant sunny day, or any other weather effect for that matter, would get slightly annoying.

I think that seasons would be great! It would make it much more realistic and give the game even more longevity. Real time weather effects would be good too, so some days it would rain, on others it'd be foggy. That'd be cool.

THAT I agree with. I think once in awhile, it will rain, the other days it would be supersunny... you get the idea! I don't like how in R/S/E it rains in some areas forever and in others it always... you get the idea. o_o

I agree, there should be weather. Rain, Snow and Sun would be good, But I'm not so sure about fog. If you were doing a puzzle of some sort, it would be annoying to be unable to see things clearly.
I made some pictures of what I think seasons would look like:

Spring with lots of flowers, fall with colorful leaves, winter with snow, and summer looking like the normal world, but with more people outside (No School!). :D

For winter some pf you r pokemon could get frozen if you leave it out to long. You r pokemon will like you more if you let them play in the pool (summer), make snowmen (winter duh), jump in leaves (fall), and just do whatever (spring). IN spring (mating season) baby forms of pokemon could be a lot more common. In the north, some seas could be partially frozen(winter). THere couulz also be natural disasters sumtimes like floods and hurricanes and volcanic eruptions. And if you help stop them you get special stuff. Pokemon keeps getting better and better the way it's always getting more and more realistic
