Post subject:  Virus code?

Hey. Not posted on here other than once or twice in a long while, so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong part.

My partner used a code from Action Replay on her game which said it'd change the sex (gender) of eggs 'cause she was trying to get only females (no comments on that, please). The game froze, which has happened before, so she restarted it, but no longer has the option to start her old game. Like any good trainer, she put in a lottt of hours, and lots of hard work, and is now gutted. And I'm gutted for her.
Is there any way she can retrieve it? When she tries to start a game now, the Professor just appears and starts chatting away. Was it a virus code some...poophead created?

Thanks.

Using Action Replay is always a risk to mess up your save file. In this case, it appears that your AR has corrupted or even deleted the old data.

If the game does not recognize there is an old file, the chances of retrieving it are slim. You could perhaps see user reviews of the particular code you used, or do a Google search on retrieving game data.

As for the speculation about a virus, an AR code would only need to have an honest error to cause some data corruption - but the possibility of a malicious code is always present. If you did a search for Pokemon cheats, you would find many guides on supposed "cheats" that only instruct you to waste time, or in the worst cases, restart your game.

If you are only trying to get a female when breeding, I would recommend simply breeding more eggs (the minimum chance of getting a female for any species is 1/8) or using an RNG calculator, which cannot damage your game data.

Hmm, I've encountered a similar problem before, though not in the DPP versions. Your friend must have turned on several codes at one time, causing the AR to mess up everything out of confusion.

Certain codes, despite being unrelated to each other in terms of function, can mess each other up somehow. I remember I permanently changed my Ruby Version character into a NPC lady that could walk over water, pass through buildings like a ghost and cause the game to freeze every time a battle starts; even though I turned on different codes that should not result in the weird things happening at all. :?
