Silly question, but where do I get the Stone PLate?

If memory serves me correctly, you find it in Mt.Coronet. You need Surf and Waterfall to get to it, though. :)

Does a macho brace reduce speed permanently, or just when the Pokemon is holding it?

OH. That was a burn to Turtwig! Of course, I started with Turtwig, so...
Anyway, there are many different opinions to this question, and I will give you some notes on both Pokemon. Then you can pick whichever you find will be better.
Chimchar: Well, after I found Turtwig SUCKED, I got a Chimchar and Piplup from a friend and, I must say, I have not taken the Piplup out from the PC since I evolved it. Infernape simply is...better. In the metagame, that is. For competetive battles, it depends on IVs, EVs, movesets, strategies, ect. I'd say that, for a beginner such as yourself, Chimchar would make getting to and through the E4 so much easier.
Piplup: I have been interested in making a purely Steel team, and of course Empoleon caught my eye as the only Steel starter. Also, this adds resistances (quite a few) to his meager list of Water Resistances (Fire, Ice, and Water) and he just looks cool (to me). Of course, stat-wise, he crumples to Infernape, but if you want a challenge, take Piplup. Oh, and one more thing, PIPLUP IS JUST THE CUTEST LITTLE THING EVER!!! If Pokemon were real, I would pick a Piplup as my starter and NEVER let it evolve! At least until it had had children and I could forever baby one of them...
So, I would guess Infernape would be a better choice for you, but if you want a Piplup, feel free to ask me for one. And if I don't happen to be on, always feel free to use Trading Topics for the same purpose. Have a great time on Psypokes!

Frankly, I have to say that I know that Turtwig wasn't as good as the other starters. I know that may've been a little bit of an insult but, my friend told me that he tried it, and it wasn't that good, so that kinda' explains it.......
Well, I think I'll try Infernape, thanks for the help! =]
Thanks,
Poke'Master Greg :P

Taunt lets you catch Abra easy, Keep an either all Phsical or all Special Moveset, With SwordsDance/NastyPlot 'Nape. That way once you've pulled off a Stat Boost or two, you can sweep a whole team.

Here are some item question I've been wanting to ask.

Anyone know how much wide lens increases acc?

How much does Black Sludge restore?

How many turns does light clay add?

Is power herb used up when it is used?

I consider Giratina the 'opposite side' of the mystical Dialga and Palkia, being born when the world was first created. Basically the anti-existence to all the other pokemon.

10%

How much does Black Sludge restore?

Same as leftovers; 1/16 of its max HP

How many turns does light clay add?

3 extra turns for a total of 8 turns.

Is power herb used up when it is used?

outside of the Battle Tower and WiFi, I believe so.

Ok, thanks for the answers. This should help when it comes down to deciding what to use.

One last thing, is Scope Lens less effective then Zoom Lens when the bonus for Zoom Lens is in effect? Or are they the same, thus making Zoom Lens completely useless?

Scope Lens raises Critical-Hit ratio, while Zoom Lens increase the accuracy of moves by 20% if the user goes last, so I don't see any correlation there. ^_^

But wait, this is exactly what the description in the game is for Zoom Lens:
An item to be held by a Pokemon. If the holder moves after the foe, its critical-hit ratio will be boosted.

My question is if this is completely useless since a Scope Lens also boosts the critical-hit ratio. It makes sense that since it is conditional, it would have more effect.

Well I chose empoleon and it did great against the e4. Just not great against the gym leaders.

I think {chimchar} or {piplup} would be good choices...

{chimchar}
1-You don't see many fire pokes in sinnoh ...especially before you fight the E4...
2-Good Sweeper...(Phy/Spe or Mix...) Fast and Strong.
3-Good for beginners

{piplup} (I started with him...)
1-Great type combination...
2-Good Staller...
3-Wide movepool...

Chimchar does have that factor that hes one of 2 Pre-National Pokemon that have Fire Typing, I think the only other is Ponyta?
Piplup may be good at stalling, But Bronzor and Bronzong are so Widely available, That his Role as 'Something to take hits while you use potions' Isnt as great as it might be.

If you have Wifi acess, then go for it and take Chimchar, get a reset untill you get a Female, so you can breed and trade on the GTS, or Find someone who will trade babys of them to you.

Wouldn't it be easier just to get Ditto to breed...?

Ditto isn't available earlier in the game. You must have the Pokeradar or the Pal Park to get a Ditto, or a friend with a Ditto.

Yeah, but the little guy with the female starter can get another starter as soon as he reaches Soloceon if he has GTS access.

I just picked up my pearl game again and i was looking for a fire type poke besides ponyta and i noticed you can get a vulpix using leaf green.

My question is do you need to have beaten the e4 or obtain the national dex for this to work?

I tried going to the route but vulpix wouldn't show.....it has an 8% chance though, maybe i need to look longer.

thanks for any help

{vulpix}----lol cool

Unless I am very much incorrect, you must have beaten the Elite 4 to catch cartridge-insertion Pokemon.

If you breed your starter, you can get Char. If you dont have wifi acess, then... Ponyta is all you can get untill after the E4

Say i got my Salamence to get the egg move hydro pump. Do you think that could pass down to something else if it breeds with some other thing in its egg grup? plz awnser asap!

Like, what?

As long as the male of the two pokes knows the move, then the egg will get it. But if the Salamance that knows Hydro Pump is the female then it wouldn't get passed on too. Only what a male knows.

I'm not sure what it is that you are trying to do and how this helped.
