I haven't chained in ages... but out of curiosity I decided to blow off the dust on my Platinum and now I am chaining Lunatone.

Edit: The chain broke by a Lv2 Starly, so my Lv100 Starmie kissed it goodbye with an Ice Beam. Hooray.

I've been doing a bit more chaining lately as well. Also, I'm working on getting the shiny collector thread updated. It's been a while x_x;

i haven't changed in so long... it'll feel good to get so angry at a video game for no particular reason other than greed :D

Roselias and staravias are what caused me to hate chaining in Backlot's garden :D

All chains are meant to be broken at some point for no apparent reason, it's 1 of the things I hate about Chaining the most...I lost many a chance at good pokemon cause of this I tell you...

It was very evil indeed...

I might start my Platinum Version file over "again" just to get back to chaining again as I only have my party & 1 or 2 Event Pokemon of value which I have multiple copies of & I haven't been doing much on the file either so...meh...

For chaining sake and for the sake of my sanity i had to get another Platinum game card as my original one has been mia for about a year now... Its good to know some people are still at it =)

so last night i chained a shiny smeargle following only the flashing patches! everything ive read has said to avoid those but thats where the rare ones are i believe because i could only find smeargle in a flashing patch. when i started the chain i followed the same rules except i only went for flashing patches......and it worked. got to 40 and only reset like 5 times after that. oh and before that mission i randomly encountered a shiny electabuzz and would really like to evolve it into electivire if anyone wants to trade/tradeback. im a noob and will need some guidance as to this process tho

To clarify what you read you avoid the gold shaking or the white shaking patches when looking for regular pokemon not found exclusively with the radar, you do this because it limits the number of pokemon you can find and increases your chances continuing the chain. However if you are looking for radar exclusive pokemon you do follow the gold patches. Good job on getting what you wanted.

In other news I've started up chaining again and have obtained 2x Shinx however i would have gotten more but i forgot the chainer's creed, I walked into the patch behind me XD I'm now trying for beldum as they are my swarm but before i do i shall be testing out a few theories of procedure. Will post back my results.

That's what I figured & wow, good luck as chaining on that sandstorm route is pure hell most of the time & I know 1st hand from my own personal experience, look forward to the results...

& as I can't trust anyone to do some trade backs for me so that I can restart my Platinum file, I will just have to wait until I obtain another DS, most likely the 3DS before I can really chain again...meh...

Post subject:  Re: Chaining for Shinies(Pokéradar)

Its not so much the chaining of the beldum that i object to its the fact they refuse to be caught, chaining in the sand really isn't that bad its the snow on 217 that bugs me (still had a record of 31 on swinub there XD). They have a time limit on them, they force you to use a ghost, and they have a capture rate of 3. Its the reason i actually gave up after catching one shiny on my last file

Post subject:  Re: Chaining for Shinies(Pokéradar)

Beldum is an irritating factor in chaining Beldum & more importantly catching a shiny 1 as they do indeed have that ridiculous catch rate, know that personally from trying to catch a normal 1 even as some would commit suicide & then I finally caught 1 & tried chaining, not even to tell what I was doing & yes, that Blizzard Route is hell as well & now that I think about it, even worse...meh...

"The Trails of Chaining for Shinies" that they are...

I found one the first reset after i hit 40, caught it in the time limit as well with a dusk ball. I'm leaving it for the night as i have school tomorrow but i have high hopes for this one

Actually, the sandstorm is quite easy to chain in, thanks to the different grass sprites in platinum. I caught some shiny cacneas and digletts there a while back.

That is very true, I have only chained in the Diamond & Pearl Version of the route so obviously hell ensured soon after for a brief moment...

& congrats on the Shiny Beldum capture, Ethereal Ice...

You nearly ran out of time? ...you mean for the swarm? As long as you're chaining, you don't have to worry about the date switching over. I've kept swarm chains going past midnight on quite a few occasions.

My {lickitung} Chain in either Diamond or Pearl lasted until around 3:00AM(past Midnight 3:00AM) though how it actually ended is up to debate in my own mind...One Hundred & Forty-something Lickitung chained & it ends I believe by means of a Shiny Patch which didn't give me a shiny Lickitung & on top of that stopped my chain, at least that's what I remember anyway, I know it was something awkward if anything that broke that chain cause I could not be stopped(actually I could apparently, lol)...

Oh & he was talking about running out of turns to capture a {beldum} stuck on using only Take Down(or maybe even Struggle)...I know he was talking about this cause it is the only real issue with catching Beldum once you encounter 1 finally...

140 lickitung...... Wow, I tend to stop when I reach 40 and then just walk around till I find one... Which honeslty doesnt happen much, I swear my game has it out for me when it comes to shiny hunting.

Yeah i was referring it the time until it killed itself =S, stopped my chain after that because frankly they are too damn hard to catch. And I've had a drowze chain going for 2 days after the swarm itself ended and somehow only caught five XD
I think I'm gunna stick with steel typed for a while (and easy to catch ones at that) as i'm in that kind of a mood.

Yeah both beldums were adamant (thank god) while the one I plan to keep has IV's over 21 (besides speed which is 14-19).
