They're the same apart from a handful of exclusive pokemon. I got Diamond, just because Blue is a little more manly than Pink.

I really see no difference i just got it because i prefer diamonds then pearls.

I find it really stupid when people buy both just to get both dialga and palkia. Thats such a wate of money i mean thats why they invented the GTS.

I chose Diamond coz' I prefered Dialga over Palkia, but I don't think that Palkia's any worse. They have good sides .
Besides, I rather Diamond exclusives too .

Anyway, that's really your choice. And there's no point of getting both...

I picked pearl for the reason that I always get the unpopular (and usually water type) version. The version-specific pokemon you have are more valuable that way, and the ones you don't have are easy to get. Sapphire, blue and gold (the only one not water because lugia had a movie, ho-oh didn't). I'm also planning on getting leafgreen for that reason (charizard is loved more than venasaur).

I honestly think that the version-specific pokemon matter more than the legendaries, in D/P you can see both and thus get them from the GTS. While the v-s Pokemon are harder to get.

P.S. I think this should be stickied, there's gonna be a lot of people asking this question. That or just have a general "this version or that?" Thread in the pokecenter.

Well, I personally preferred Gold over Silver and Sapphire over Ruby, but okay. Anyways, back on topic. I picked Diamond because Dialga was in there and I personally thought he looked cooler and you could get in Diamond. I hear Pearl is harder than Diamond, but that could just be some opinion preferences. Most of my friends have Pearl, which is another reason I had gotten Diamond. And as other people said, pick the one with the more Pokemon you prefer if you don't have Wi-Fi connection or something.

I have Diamond and my friend has Pearl. Besides the fact that some of the pokemon are different, they are pretty much the same. So its really matters on which pokemon you prefer.
