I'm counting on my Dusknoir to use Pain Split for healing, as said above. Mean Look/Toxic/PainSplit/ Trickroom/Earthquake will destroy most opposition.

Of course, there are better tanks than her, but if you want to go in a new direction she's pretty good.

Vespiquen breaks the number one rule of being a tank in Pokemon: she's weak to many of the most common types, specifically Electric, Ice and Rock, with a 4x weakness to the last one. Even if Vespiquen can survive long enough to pump up her defenses with Defend Order and heal off the damage with Heal Order, one good Critical Hit puts her down for the count. Plus, once you factor in moves like Stealth Rock, which seems like it will be extremely popular in the DP metagate and takes down half of her HP as soon as she enters the battlefield, she really loses her ability to tank well.

If Skarmory comes out, out comes my Aerodactyl. I'm not planning on having a kill-all Dusknoir :P.

There's no definate "best" tank Pokemon. They all have weaknesses, so it really comes down to preferance.

My favourite tank is Milotic along with the "MiloRest" mechanic. It can dish out decent damage, withstand both physical and special attacks from the average sweepers, and can rejuvinate / replenish status afflictions. Altogether it's a real pain for most opponents to defeat it.

Due to Bronzongs disability to recover, many people prefer tanks such as Dusknoir or Blissey. <s>I think Bronzong's a good Pokemon, but the fact that it can't recover Hp by any means (that I know of) puts me off.</s>

Edit: I feel like a complete moron for not even considering the fact that virtually any Pokemon can learn Rest...

In fact, Bronzong can learn rest by TM

i admit, dusknoir and blissey r pretty sick but bronzong has tons of resistances - thts wt does it for me

i do have to admit i love my blissey, mainly because most of my friends use alot of special attacks, enough to overhere ones brother saying, "OMG its a lvl 100 blissey that things never gonna die!" however the bad part bout blissey is indeed that a good physical sweeper, or brick break, can take it out in one hit, in a slow and painful death. (how long it takes for hp to go down in DP :P )

Honestly thats the stupidest set i've ever seen.

why even bother with Curse if your just reducing your speed and bringing up your Defense AND ATTACK if you have no offense. Its like a Shuckle using swords dance. Its just not logical. Now Unless you come out of nowhere and add a physical attack like Return or another move that covers a range of types. I Suggest you scrap this set. No I insist that you scrap that set.

How can you call that a stupid set. Have you forgotten about what Curse does on ghost? It cuts you hp in half, and in turn, the opponant takes one fourth damage at the end of each turn. It is very good on a pokemon like Dusknoir, because it is a mean looking tank as well. Combine Mean Look and Curse with Toxic and Rest, and you will have a powerful and deadly pokemon. Pressure doesn't hurt either for those that do survive death's grasp. Even if it did lower speed to raise attack and defence, who said that it had to use its new found attack power? It can go very far with just defence alone.

Tyranitar would probably be a good tank 1..... but they take forever to get.

i love dusknoir and i think everyone here also forgot that dusknoir also has a base 100 attck stat which is up to par with a few sweepers. so even if curse did that id still put it on my poke.

I think you forgot Dusknoir is a ghost type. But Protect is dumb.

Spiritomb is decent. Under a +Sp Def nature, it can be good if it has Will-o-Wisp to make up for the lower defense.
