I was challenged by my friend to a lv.100 battle between a Torterra and an Empoleon. Unfortunately for me I had Torterra. All he needs to do is use hail on the first turn and blizzard on the second for me to lose. Does anyone know a why for me to stop this and/or how I should beat him?

Simply use a Choice Scarf and Earthquake.

Actually, if Empoleon is faster, I dunno if Soft Sand is better. Considering that Empoleon can also run Ice Beam. Here are the options I think are valid: If Torterra is faster: Use Life Orb and Earthquake. Life Orb gives a 30% boost, not 10% like Soft Sand. If Torterra is slower than Empoleon: Run Choice Scarf and Earthquake. If Empoleon has Ice Beam but is slower than Torterra: You can try to run Yache Berry in the hope of surviving or run the Life Orb set and hope you get an OHKO. If Empoleon also has Aqua Jet, then you must get an OHKO. If Empoleon has Ice Beam and is faster than Torterra: Use Yache Berry and hope you can survive the hit AND OHKO. Otherwise, you're toast.

Thank you for your help ChillBill. I'll try out the choice scarf but i don't know how much it boosts the speed stat. Hopefully I can get its speed high enough that he will attack first. If that fails well... I hope torterra wears a jacket. But once again thank you for your help. I'll let you know how it goes.

Choice Scarf boosts speed by 50%. It's impossible for Empoleon to outspeed you unless it's Scarfed too. For me, the biggest threat is Ice Beam. If he goes for Hail-Blizzard, then you win. Otherwise...

Really, I don't know. You must use a damage calculator for that-I think Psypoke has one. Any of the stats you don't know can be found with the IV calculator, assuming that Empoleon's Attack and Speed are the highest possible. If you're so sure about the fail Hail-Blizzard combo, then you can't lose. When it comes to Ice Beam, run some calcs to see Ice Beam and EQ damage. Then based on the results and the Speed calcs, pick your item. I forgot to mention that instead of Life Orb you can also run Choice Band, which gives an even bigger boost, since you don't mind getting locked in EQ.

I'm looking on my SS for the best item to use ( thank you cheats) and a Focus band or a Focus sash is great for 1 hit KO, I'd also use a snorlax's weight in proten's iron's and carbos's (HP DF and Speed) Or, use the ever trusty Quick claw. I took out all of my friend's teams using these items.
