When creating .gif animations the image files have to be in .gif format. In ms paint why does the image color change when I change the image type to .gif? how do i fix it?

I think it's because .gif saves less information. Try saving it as a .png. I'm no artist though, so I'm not sure if that would affect the animation. Try saving it as .png and then using a filetype converter, maybe.

Well, the program I use, allows me to save as bitmap, so that's what I do.. bmps are kinda heavy, but they never lost a single pixel of the colors I use.. Then when assembling the bmps to form a gif it never gave me any troubles either... Though I never tried animated sigs... signatures usually have more colors than sprites, so that may interfere as well.
What program do you use for animations, and have you tried using BMP and seeig if the colors keep working and so does the program?

(patchy's idea sounds good too, but I'm trying to create a solution that doesn't involve downloading any new program)
