I was reading the poem by Robert Frost in ELA and it got me thinking... what will the world end in?

Fire. Ignoring all the bible-related stuff, the atmosphere IS getting thinner, allowing more heat to get in. And global warming, etc. etc. It will likely end in fire.

I was at a book fair the other day and I saw a book about te alleged 'Seven Evil Years' and people on earth have to fight for what is right and that sort of stuff, it looked good yet weird.

As an atheist who relies on science, fire. The world has gone through many ice ages, but it is already scientifically that unless a black hole approaches earth or one of them gamma pulses from a nearby star, the sun near it's dying stage will consume the earth, long after humans come and gone.

Ice - The Earth goes through periodic ice ages, so I think that will do us in. I just can't see the whole planet catching fire, even with global warming. If anything, global warming will help throw the seasons out of wack and give us odd weather, hence speeding up the ice age process. Despite the name, global warming doesn't mean the earth is going to get progressively hotter.

Fire isn't as cool or as scary. If you think about it, if an asteroid knocks the earth off it's orbit, ICE! If nuclear war breaks out, ICE. If a huge volcano suddenly erupts, ICE. There are many reasons why ICE is a plausible end of the world. Mostly a period of fire followed by and ended with a period of ICE.

Fire & Ice

First we get knocked towards the sun and burn up. Then our orbit is corrupted and we start moving farther away from the sun during fall/winter and then we have an Ice Age all over again! And there could be like, 3 months of summer and 9 months of fall/winter. Then the world will have to start all over again :D

Fire is prolly one most destructive and yeah it scares alot of ppl to scare with it thats how Freddy Kuegers died


and water is prolly less my worries but you can easily kill urself drowning and the bullys of Camp Crystal killed Jason Vorhees that way!

Just to throw another theory out there, both. The Earth will eventually purify itself of parasites (us) that have been draining the life from it. It will do anything necessary to maintain balance. Has anyone noticed that there has been large natural disasters over the past years? And they seem to be getting worse. Fire and Ice or just symbols for cataclysmic disasters that are inevitable.

To find perfection, there must be destruction before it. The human race is the only the dominant species for the time being. The only reason why we have been knocked down yet is because we keep increasing our carrying capacity and eliminating factors that would restrain a normal species, e.g. shelter(we kick out other species so we have somewhere to stay). We have used the Earth's resources to their fullest extent, now we must step down.

Call it God's will, call it Darwinism, call it whatever you want but it's going to happen (not 2012 either).

ha, i ain't stepping down from anywhere. In fact, this whole global warming theory is crap being blown out of preportion, and the Earth doesnt think. it is a planet, not a god or something. Sure the forces of nature are beyond our control, but that doesnt mean that they are out to get us. they dont think! they dont even care that we exsist! they just do what the conditions are right for! we just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time! we inhabit almost the entire frickin land area of this planet! its unavoidable that we get hit by natural disasters more often as we build in places that are prone to them! look at the facts! we build on the coast we get hit by tropical storms of some kind! we build on top of faults we get hit by earthquakes! its not that we are overusing the earth's resources! its the fact that we are under using our brains

Ice. Because there is always a global warming right before an ice age. All the ice melts, messing with wind patterns and ocean currents. Strange that it getting hotter makes it get cooler, but it's true. (I watch too much Discovery Channel)
