To anyone asking, assuming it's the least bit serious, no, Toasty is not dead.
Someone suggested that this happens in the US and not Britain because of a higher population. Of course, Great Britain actually has a much higher population density so it would be logical to assume this situation would happen there more, but perhaps they don't get as excited over sales as we do...

I think the other nations have more sense than we do to make sure they know what they're stepping on. Or to generally care. I mean we say "OMG! WE GOTZ TAH SHTAWP DAH GLOBUL WARMEENG!!!" even though we do pretty much nothing to accomplish this. Though we like our hybrids (pretty much every street has one where I am) it turns out that making them actually does more harm than it saves.
