I was just wondering what kind of rules your schools had, and what you think of them or whether you comply.

At our school, phones aren't allowed, but every student has one and all the teachers know it. I really don't know why there's a ban when there's not a single person without one. Mp3 players, gameboys, etc are all banned as well. Course, I listen to music and play Pokemon in class anyway, and most students bring Ipod Touches (or whatever they're called) and watch movies.

In terms of uniform, we have to wear blazers and ties and whatnot. Luckily, we don't have to wear shorts in the summer. My cousin has to - it's compulsory. He looks like a poofter.

Teachers aren't very strict, and nobody listens to them. This is a Catholic school, by the way.

At my school, phones aren't allowed, but everyone brings them anyway. I even had mine out in front of the secretary in the office and all she did was tell me to put it up. MP3 players, iPods, and stuff like that aren't allowed either and again, everyone still brings them. They're more strict with the music stuff than the phones though, because the people in the office know that students who are car riders might need them.

As for uniforms... We're free to wear jeans (as long as they don't have oversized pockets) but we have to wear collared shirts, and they have to be either red, white or blue. I keep my jacket on all day at school, so I never come in uniform. =P Alot of my friends don't either.

My school's rules are basically the same as any other average school, but I don't get the point in having to wear a "uniform" when it's only the shirts. No one comes in uniform anyway.

iPods only allowed in cafeteria, no where else. Phones have to be in your locker and turned off, although no-one follows that rule. No uniforms, just make sure that your arms are short so you can wear short skirts and shorts .. if you're a girl. You have to put your arms on your thighs and make sure that they DON'T go past your shorts/skirt, if they do, its deemed 'too short' and you're sent to the office. Our school is kinda strict but in some ways its kind of relaxed and no rules are too barbaric. However, my bus driver from hell wouldn't let us use our phones even though it said in the rule book that 'after 3:40, phones are allowed on school property' to which our bus driver said that the bus wasn't school property. >____> Right.

All electronics were banned, but I played my DS regularly in journalism (back when I still went to school), in front of my teacher. Hell, sometimes she'd even ask me what game I was playing and if it was good (so she had an idea of what to get her sons).

The rules at my school are pretty normal. No phones but everyone still brings them.

For us, you can "have" electronics, but it must be turned off and out of sight.

Depending on the teacher, punishments range from your electronic being taken away to a simple "please turn it off". Actually, my Bio teacher (typically teaches AP Chem) takes your cell phone, answers the call, and introduces himself in front of the class to your friends, completely embarassing you.

The dress code lets us look like pigs - the shorts have to just be down mid-thigh.

For some reason, you aren't allowed to carry weapons, but they consider a plastic fork that is exposed as a weapon. And forget about walking with keys in your hand not grasped correctly.

I did the dumbest thing. I was listening to music, and the bell went, so I took it out and went to my locker. I didn't realize that my earphone was hanging clearly in font of my white shirt lol. Course, the teacher pulls me up and says "give me the mp3 player". I just go "uhhh.. I'll put it away now". She said "okay", and I was like "PHEW."

Some teachers are lenient. My maths teacher lets us use mp3 players. Besides, I'm sure most teachers want to instill that they don't condone it, but deep down they can't be bothered having to call the student's parents and then talking to them about the situation and whatnot.

mmmm no elerontics because they get stolen so often and the school isn't involved if it wasnt allowed to begin w. some teachers allow some stuff at certain times but if someone comes in the teacher is in A LOT of trouble so most teachers wont allow it. they will take it and send it to the office and get it back after school. 3 times and a parent has to come pick it up i think there was something else like theyll take it and not give it back for a long time but idk anything past that like i care i just dont use that stuff in school i can wait. dress code is no longer enforced. like there is a rule teachers dont care unless they dont like you or its really bad or something or repeative. no drugs or weapons or porn or drinking or anything that can be ofensive to someone else or swearing on clothing. actually that stuff cant be anywhere at all even toy weapons and that is actually enforced. strapes must be 3 fingers length. shirts must cover stomache and all. shorts and skirts must reach past finger tips when arms are put down by side. must wear shoes. no pants sagging. but again they think we're mature enough to know what to wear so if it isn't 3 fingers if your shorts are an inch too small if theres a gun shooting hearts on your shirt they wont care. actually the shoot hearts think is on my backpack hehe. but if u are caught they make you change or put a jacket on if you dont have anything to cover or change into then you get something out of the lost and found (sick. and not in a cool way) late to school wash tables at lunch late to class you go to a class room and don't talk and eat alone in a spot they give you and stay there in silence til lunch is over. if your more than 5 minutes later which includes not coming you get an extra day [if you come thats one other day] [if you dont show up you come 2 days] and it keeps building up. that is enforced. my teachers love me i never get in trouble :D no pda they'll just make you stop. and its rly awkward. gum is now allowed but in middle school and below it wasnt. because little kids kept putting it under chairs and tables and on the floor... which actually happens here. (again... sick. why would people do that. i hate grabbing the desk to help pull my chair in and put my hand RIGHT on someone else's gum. no vandalism. theres been graffiti on the walls and drugs done at school and the bathrooms be vandalized (wtf) so the bathrooms are closed for the whole day HOW MISRIBLE IS THAT! cant go to the bathroom :[ theres other basic none important stuff....

WOW! Crystal! I was reading your post and I was thinking."That's just like Harry Potter" then I read what you had in parenthesis.

Our rules aren't very harsh. Electronics must be in pocket or locker turned off. No gum. No cursing. Skirts on girls can't be 4 inches above knee. And that's basically all.

Reading posts about Catholic schools make me giggle. It's nice and all to go their for your particular faith, but those are the most ridiculous schools I've ever encountered. You pay them such a large sum of money per year (depending on how many students have enrolled or will enroll) and yet they go about as if they, themselves, are a god because they have the tendency to fly with a superiority complex. Let's keep in mind that there are two types of behavior; the bad and the bad that don't get caught. As such there are two types of discipline; adolescent discipline and inferiority discipline. Just kindly remind the teachers (who may or may not even be qualified for their position) that your parents pay an X amount of money per year to be taught the social skills and also fundamental belief skills that are necessary for a young adult to make it in the world, not to have your time wasted by petty nonsense just because they're having a bad day. Point in closing, there are no rules as long as you find a way around them.

My school is a pretty small school. We have about one hundred and twenty people, and its third through twelth grade. My school is a private school for homeschoolers that offers classes that are difficult to take at home.

Anyway, my school doesn't have that many rules, some of the teachers don't mind electronics, so long as you are paying attention, others, you don't even want to try it. Their golden rule is to be kind to all, and to never exclude anybody. They don't have a uniform, they just require that you dress modestly. Some of the students are so lax that they just get up and wander into other classes, regardless of the class that they are supposed to be in.

At my school, you can't...
listen to your iPod in class(although a lot of people do...)
use your cell(course people do...)
wear shorts so short that the end of your fist can't touch it(but people do, anyways)
wear chains(no one cares)
wear overly baggy clothing(they still do...)
wear skulls(no one even gives a crap...)
swear(ya right, like any one listens...)
wear hats(do i have to say it? people pay no attention!)
show cleavage
wear belly shirts
and here's a weird one-go to school pregnant(swear to God it's a rule)

and no one pays attention. right.
But it really depends on your teacher. you can't play ds either, but that never stopped anyone...there's even a group that play ds at lunch and trades pokemon...

Uniform:
-(winter) light blue shirt and school tie (the tie being the most important part of the uniform, not a single teacher won't hassle you about it)
-(summer) light blue polo shirt (with school insignia) for boys, light blue checkered blouse for girls
-black trousers/skirt - skirt must be at least knee length with knee high black socks or black tights
-black shoes - no trainers (white trainers for P.E. with white socks, along with black shorts/short skirt and dark blue polo shirt with school insignia for girls... I just realised that I have no idea what the boys wear for P.E. ^-^)

So glad to be leaving that school!

Other rules include the usual no mobiles, no iPod, no gameboy/DS whatever - to not interupt lessons and incase they got stolen. No chewing gum either.
I always took my DS though, how else would I trade with my friends? And my mobile, kept on silent. ...And my MP3 player because it was a half-hour walk to school and home again, alone.

My school in Malaysia doesn't allow us to bring handphones, gameboys, MP3 players, comic books and anything that is not related to education. If these things are found by teachers, they will confiscate them. If handphones are confiscated you can have it back by calling your parents to claim back the phone but this only works sometimes. My school doesn't allow us to have long hairs and fingernails. The fringe should be up to half the forehead level, the sideburn up to half the ear and the hair behind cannot pass through the ears. If you are caught having hair longer than this your hair will be cut by the diciplinary teacher. sometimes they don't cut your hair and they give you warnings. Anyway me and some of my friends still have long hair by evading hair checkups. My fringe now can almost cover one of my eyes already because i have cut my hair recently. before that my fringe can cover half the nose and cover the whole eye. Anyway I think these rule sucks. I mean whats wrong with having long hair.

my school fortunately hasn't got any uniforms.though the direction prefers us not to wear, as they say, "body uncovering clothes" like mini skirts and small shirts leaving your belly uncovered; they also prefer students not to have got body piercings.
on my school cell phones are not allowed and teachers are supposed to take your phone if they see you using it and give it to the director till the end of the last lesson and inform your parents. but they just don't care. if they see you using your phone, they wont do anything.the same counts for console games, like a psp, mp3s, i-pods and cd players. such things are only allowed on school trips.
also, playing football(soccer) is not allowed in the class because "the walls may get dirty".they already are dirty though.
playing with water is not allowed. once, a friend of mine was drinking water and spilled accidently some on his shirt. when the geography teacher saw him, he brought him to the director.

When I was in school the main thing they hated and probly still hate is electronic devices but some teachers didn't care and allowed kids to use them if it didn't interfere with class.

no phone's Ipod's and such, we're only allowed a white shirt on our uniforms, and we're not allowed to wear anything but the uniform, but I beat the system ; I sewed the school symbol on a bunch of clothes wich means I can wear them now.

newest rule wich made me crack up:NO TOUCHING. I mean what the heck we're not allowed to touch our classmate's???
