POKEMON DIAMOND, PEARL AND PLATINUM POFFIN BAKING
In earlier games, PokeBlocks were used to enhance the contest characteristics of Pokemon. In Diamond and Pearl, Poffin have been introduced. Firstly, you will need a Poffin Case, and this can be found in Hearthome City's Pokemon Fan Club. Talk to the chairperson, listen to him ramble, and you'll receive a Poffin Case to store your Poffin. Secondly, you will need some berries, and these can be found all over the world. To start making Poffin, visit the Poffin House, just south of the Pokemon Center in Hearthome City, and talk to the lady standing in front of the table with a weird contraption on top of it.
Making Poffin is relatively simple. Use the DS touchscreen to mix the batter either clockwise or anti-clockwise, depending on which way the arrow is pointing.

If you stir too fast, you get "overflow", where the batter spills. Maintain a steady stirring technique to keep the batter in the bowl! Of course, the batter will harden and brown as time goes by, so you can afford to stir faster. If you don't stir when prompted, or if you stir too slow, you'll burn the mixture. Too many errors, and you'll end up with a dull-grey Foul Poffin. You'll notice after a few rounds that when the Poffin mixture is brown and the cooking flames are blue, you can mix as fast as you want without spilling, so make use of it and go hard.

Anyway, it's not that hard to make a decent Poffin. After a minute or so, you'll be taken to a results screen where you will see how many burns and overflows you've done, as well as the Poffin flavour and level. Of course, the higher the level, the better the quality. To achieve really high levels, partner up with some friends and make some Poffin together by choosing "In a group". Your friends will need to be in wireless range for this to work.
An important note is that if you use two of the same berries, your Poffin will automatically come out as a level 2 Foul Poffin! So make sure you organise what your friends are putting in before you start!
Poffin Flavours
Remember, there are five basic Poffin flavours that correspond to the five contest characteristics. See also the Natures Guide for a list of which natures prefer which flavours.
Spicy Poffins raise Cool
Dry Poffins raise Beauty
Sweet Poffins raise Cute
Bitter Poffins raise Smart
Sour Poffins raise Tough
Some berries have multiple flavours, and as a result, sometimes you will get Poffin that have two flavours:
| | Spicy-Dry Poffin | Spicy-Sweet Poffin | Spicy-Bitter Poffin | Spicy-Sour Poffin |
 Dry-Spicy Poffin | | Dry-Sweet Poffin | Dry-Bitter Poffin | Dry-Sour Poffin |
 Sweet-Spicy Poffin | Sweet-Dry Poffin | | Sweet-Bitter Poffin | Sweet-Sour Poffin |
 Bitter-Spicy Poffin | Bitter-Dry Poffin | Bitter-Sweet Poffin | | Bitter-Sour Poffin |
 Sour-Spicy Poffin | Sour-Dry Poffin | Sour-Sweet Poffin | Sour-Bitter Poffin | |
You can also get Foul Poffin if you get too many burns or overflows, but there are Rich Poffin which have more than two primary flavours. Check your Poffin case to see what kinds of flavours they are. Although they look similar, the Rich Poffin is in fact slightly lighter in colour.

When you mix alone, these are the Poffin flavours that each berry produces. Alternatively, check the Poffin Calculator for more complex mixes.
