Verdict: Long before the controversy over her design, there was Jynx in RBY, which is still probably her strongest showing to date. Being a Psychic in RBY gives her an edge over many opponents, not to mention getting two strong STAB moves and an exclusive sleep move (Lovely Kiss) to run off Jynx's base 95 Special and Speed, respectively. Mimic works particularly great in making sure Starmie, who resists both Psychic and Blizzard, doesn't wall you. Mimic a Thunderbolt or Recover from Starmie and suddenly Jynx becomes that much better. It is just a bit odd that she didn't pick up a second or third Elemental Punch from tradebacks like her friends Electabuzz and Magmar.
