Other Options: Counter, a wide variety of Special moves that it doesn't have the power to use.

Verdict: Rhydon is another on the short list of Physical-oriented Pokemon who actually saw use in RBY. However, with two 4x weaks and vulnerability to Ice and Ground, Rhydon is risky because it doesn't take much to put him down for the count. Therefore, Rhydon survives mainly through paralysis support from his teammates, although Body Slam can be a decent last-ditch effort when something switches in. Once the opponent has been paralyzed, there's little to stop Rhydon from pummeling them with two strong STAB moves that run off a 358 Attack. While Substitute is generally unused in non-Stadium RBY battles, since it doesn't block stat drops or status effects, it can protect Rhydon from being one-shotted by a Special move. Overall, he causes a lot of trouble with the right support.
