Verdict: With Rhydon and Golem around, one has to wonder why Onix even exists. Even if those other two Rock/Grounds weren't around, Onix still wouldn't be that good, since all it has going for it is its massive Defense, and even that is negated by horrible HP. Onix has decent Speed, however, and can annoy standards like Chansey with its Bind. What really kills Onix, though, is his terrible Attack. Earthquake, Rock Slide and Explosion are all good moves, but Onix will have to Screech to be able to KO anything and, even then, Blizzards, Surfs and Psychics are flying all over RBY to cut Onix down before he can wear down the opponent's Defenses. Trade it to GSC where it evolves into something worth your time.
