Water 95 100% Clamp The user becomes uncontrollable and attacks for 2-5 consecutive turns; the target cannot make attacks of its own during this time, but it may switch out, use items or run away. Water 35 75% Blizzard Has a ~10% chance to freeze the target. Ice 120 90% Body Slam Has a ~30% chance to paralyze the target. Normal 85 100% Explosion The Defense stat of other Pokemon is halved against this attack, essentially doubling the move's base power; causes the user to faint. Normal 170 100%           Other Options: It doesn't really need anything else. Verdict: Cloyster boasts the highest Defense of this generation, but his horrible HP actively undermines this feat. On the other hand, since this is RBY, Cloyster can still endure a Special move without dying a horrible death. He also is the exclusive holder of the Clamp attack, and gets Body Slam to paralyze and slow down the opponent, but this strategy doesn't appeal to everybody, so Surf is still always a good option. Blizzard will help Cloyster, like every other Water Pokemon in RBY, take on Grass Pokemon, but also gets the added boost of STAB, and Explosion is always a good move to have around when you know Cloyster's job is finished. In fact, while Cloyster is decent in his own right, it's really his access to Explosion that makes him a good choice.
