Verdict: In a metagame dominated by Psychics, Alakazam probably rests atop of the non-banned totem pole. This, of course, is thanks to its incredibly high Special and Speed. Its Psychic laughs at almost everything in the game short of Chansey and other Psychics/Amnesia users, and it picks up Reflect and Recover to keep in the fight for a long time. Thunder Wave is helpful as always, and Seismic Toss gives him something to damage his Psychic pals with. Playing RBY with tradebacks, Alakazam also picks up the Elemental Punches, allowing him to take down his dual-Psychic counterparts and making him even scarier. Alakazam has always been threatening and this was no different in RBY.
