Other Options: Counter, Amnesia (Tradeback), supported by Blizzard and Psychic, and Lovely Kiss (NYPC).

Verdict: Poliwrath is really pretty lame in plain RBY, since he's just another disadvantaged Fighting Pokemon in a game dominated by Psychics. Although, he had the highest Special of the Fighters in RBY, with a whopping base 70, making his Surf somewhat usable. Unfortunately, he doesn't get Rock Slide, so he's stuck using Earthquake and Body Slam with Submission for physical STAB. Really, though, Poliwrath becomes a lot better once he gets out of pure RBY: he pick up arguably the best move in the game, Amnesia, through tradebacks, along with a few Special moves to abuse, and also gains an accurate sleep move from the NYPC. He might be worth your time in these environments, but please leave him out of pure RBY kthx.
