In Stadium, the user becomes uncontrollable during its next turn. Otherwise, the user attacks on turn one but it doesn't recharge on turn two if it KOs the target, breaks its Substitute or misses entirely.
Verdict: While not quite as good as Rhydon, there are a couple of reasons to use Sandslash instead. The first is that Sandslash gets Swords Dance to pump up his Attack, but he will almost always need paralysis support from Body Slam or another team member to pull this off. Sandslash also has another advantage over Rhydon in that it is not weak to Earthquake and doesn't take 4x damage from Water and Grass. Earthquake and Rock Slide are a solid combo, Hyper Beam makes weakened Pokemon cry and Body Slam is consistent as always. It's just too bad Sandslash gets ignored after Marowak picks up Thick Club in future generations.
