This should hopefully be the last time we'll have to shift servers because as you can tell from the domain name, we've set up a new home at ClassicGaming! That's right, Psypoke is proud to be a part of the GameSpy network, and they have by far one of the best hosting plans on the internet.
Posted by TonberryKing on 7 May 2004 at 3:55pm PDT
We've finally uploaded everything on the site minus the pictures for the anime section. We'll also hope to include a picture dex in the Psydex, and later get the UBB running too.
Frost, Anime section leader here. I've added a slew of new episode summaries and some of the pictures. The page to the show's intros and (Japanese) outros should be coming soon. Thanks. :D
Well I am pleased to inform you that we have got new forums up and running for us to use. They can be found by using the menu on the left. or by clicking HERE
Today, we added a complete profile for May and a Song Lyrics section (which right now only has the English introduction songs). Today 'A Meditite Fight' aired in America, and 'Just One of the Geysters' is confirmed to air next week.
Posted by TonberryKing on 8 May 2004 at 11:03pm PDT
Just fixed a few things here and there - you can now post Pokemon icons in your forum messages (That took ages to do, believe me). Also made this neat news script for the elites to make updates easier. No more excuses now.
According to The WB's official schedule site, two episodes of Pokemon will air this Saturday. Of course, one will be 'Just One of the Geysters,' Ash's rematch against Brawly.
According to tvtome.com, the names of Anime episodes 310-315 will be: 310. Having a Wailord of a Time 311. Win, Lose or Drew 312. The Spheal of Approval (^.^) 313. Jump for Joy! 314. A Different Kind of Misty! 315. A Pokeblock Party!
Some already confirmed release dates: Jirachi: The Wish Maker will be released on VHS and DVD on June 1st...
Poekmon Fire Red and Leaf Green (not Water Blue) will be released in America in September.
All you fans of repeats will be happy to learn that Cartoon Network will begin airing 'Pokemon' again on weeknights.
Last month, they abruptly pulled off repeats of the Indigo League in favor of 'Totally Spies.' In June, the Cartoon Network will begin airing new-to-the-network episodes, beginning at the end of Orange Islands and going through the 'Pokemon: The Johto Journeys.'
'Pokemon: Johto League Champions' is airing daily in repeats 4 PM on Kids WB, and 'Pokemon: Master Quest,' will undoubtedly follow when Champs has finished its run. 'Pokemon Advance' can still be seen on Kids WB Friday Afternoons and Saturday Mornings.
Altogether, this is a great chance for any fans of the show to catch up on the seasons they phased out (like me) during.
Also, I forgot to mention yesterday that Kids WB will air TWO new episodes this Saturday. In addition to 'Just One of the Geysters,' 'Abandon Ship!' will also be shown.
The latest Pokemon has finally been released in Japan. After the 7th movie promotionalists keeping it a secret in all trailers and on the official site, Gonbe has finally been released. It has been speculated that it is a pre-evolution of Snorlax, but this is unconfirmed. Here is a picture of Gonbe. Sorry, image no longer exists.
Anyway in the latest Japanese Coro Coro magazine a small picture of Gonbe was shown. Click HERE to take a look at a scan from the Coro Coro magazine. Lets hope that the new generation is released in the near future!
It seem that KidsWB has returned to showing two new episodes of Pokemon Advanced every Saturday. If this is correct, 'Now That's Flower Power!,' May's first contest battle, and 'Having a Wailord of a Time!' should air this Saturday.
That said, please excuse lack of Anime section updates... I'll get my butt in gear soon.
If you enjoy Psypoke, please help us! Since we've moved servers, nobody knows where we are. If you can help spread the word of the site, it would be VERY much appreciated!
Anime Updates: Song Intro section added; covering the English intros. Coming shortly: Japanese lyrics for the Intros, coverage on the Japanese outros (I need to download those, hehe) and some new episode summaries (I hope so...)
Also, the Picturedex should be coming shortly, along with another new feature I won't tell you about right now. :)
Kids WB will be playing two episodes of Advance again this weekend... too bad I keep missing those 9 AM shows. And Cartoon Network will be showing Orange again shortly. Yay.
Well I have some exciting news pieces for you all today.
Firstly, the launch of the PsyQuest. This is an interactive quiz which gives you ten random questions from our database. But be warned, some questions are a lot harder than you may expect! If you are skilled enough to get either 9 or 10 out of 10, you will earn a small piece of html which you can put on your own site certifying that you mastered our PsyQuest! You can take the quiz HERE.
Secondly, I would like to announce that Psypoke will be running...Psypoke Idol! Yes, the image above is not a joke, and it is an interactive competition in which you can vote! Your vote will count, so stick around as it will be starting very soon!
Well thats about all for now, enjoy the PsyQuest and look foward to Psypoke Idol!
Posted by TonberryKing on 28 May 2004 at 4:12am PDT
That's right! The Pokemon Palace has reviewed our site and has chosen us to be their first site of the week! Check out the cool banner above, and many thanks to PPN for this award.
Some unexpected free time for me allowed me to get up a few anime tidbits I've been meaning to upload; -The Japanese lyrics for the show's intros -The remaining pictures in Team Rocket's character profiles -Some Johto League Champion summaries
Both 'Win, Lose or Drew' and 'The Spheal of Approvation' aired today in the States; unfortunately, I missed them due to WB changing the timeslots for their movie Zolar.
Once school is out for the summer, the anime section will be updated heavily, so please hang with me until then.
In the meantime, the PictureDex and our new activity 'Psypoke Idol' will be coming shortly!
Well I am pleased to announce that the Psypoke Idol site has been launched! You can now check out what it's all about! Simply use the left hand menu or click the Psypoke Idol logo above to access the site!
Be sure to return to help us choose the Psypoke Idol!

With all my assignments and tests out of the way, I've finally managed to finish off the PictureDex! Hurrah! Take a look at it by clicking on the PsyDex button, then PictureDex, or click on this direct link.
Hi everyone! I am very excited to let you all know that Psypoke Idol Round One voting has opened! Your votes count so make sure you get involved in helping us choose THE favourite Pokemon! Voting is very easy. For more information check out the idol website by either using the link in the menu or the link above. There is also a link above to take you straight to voting. Voting is very easy, simply rate each Pokemon from 1-5 then click submit, and you're done!

I've added a dropdown for each Pokemon's Egg Moves so that you see which Pokemon the egg move comes from. I tried playing around with a script to create the actual breeding chains, but I was rather unsuccessful. But the dropdowns are really helpful, so it's time not wasted.
The GSC Walkthrough is also in progress. I'd love to work on it 24/7, but there are examinations looming. Joy.
And oh yes, Happy Birthday to Queen Elizabeth II, as the countries of the Commonwealth celebrate her birthday today.
Posted by TonberryKing on 14 Jun 2004 at 11:43pm PDT
To the Psydex, I fixed up some problems with the egg moves dropdowns which weren't working for Crystal-only egg moves. I've also added some explanations to the Pokemon's Abilities (Its characteristics) so you don't have to go somewhere else to find out what it does.
Also, don't forget Psypoke Idol - Group 2 voting is still on!
Well the second group in Psypoke Idol was extremely close! So close that one person's vote could have changed the final Pokemon to go through, Bulbasaur, Grovyle and Quilava all were in the running but only one got through! To check out who it was, and the other seven Pokemon to get through, check out the Idol website by using the link above, or in the menu.
Group Three voting is now open so make sure you vote this time to avoid your favourites missing out! Only seven from 43 go through, who will it be this time? To vote, click the link above or access the voting page from the Idol website.
Well the official FireRed and LeafGreen box art has been unveiled:
Pre-orders in the USA will begin on August 1st 2004, although some stores are already accepting pre-orders, and the RRP is $39.99. Each game comes with a wireless adapter allowing you to do the usual 2 player stuff without a link cable. The FireRed and LeafGreen release date has been brought foward by 2 days making its release date now the 7th of September. Also people who preorder will get a free Trainer's guide!
The Pokemon TCG website recently celebrated the release of Ex Hidden Legends by unveiling a mini-website. This can be found HERE and contains a game and a few downloads. Below are direct links to some wallpapers they are xffering for download. Simply choose a wallpaper style and then click the link corresponding to your screen size. Right click the image and select "Set as background".
Okay, finally, no more procrastinating on the poor Anime section. 15 New episode summaries are up, including Indigo Episodes 022-026, Orange Episodes 84-87 and 89, and Johto League Champion Episodes 178, 180, 181, 190, and 191. More will be coming. I swear. >:o
Also, some new sections might be coming in the future, covering some of the older Game Boy games. Look out for those, too!
20 more summaries are up. Didn't I tell you the Anime section would get kicking when I got the time? This time I've added Indigo episodes 31-43, Orange Episode 112, Master Quest Episodes 228-231 and Hoenn Episodes 292 and 296. I also edited some earlier summaries, as if one cares.
Also, we seem to have a TCG section now. Yay...? Oh, and Kids WB seem to have run through their episodes again, so be prepared to sit through another couple weeks of reruns.

Group Four is now up at the podiums and it's time to voice your opinions! Click on the link above to head to the voting page.
Now Amphy's having a few connection problems, and as such, the results of Group Three have not been posted yet. When we get everything sorted out, we'll have the list of the seven who have made it.
Thanks to a daily two episodes of Master Quest (Kids WB) and two episodes of Orange (Cartoon Network), the anime summaries are developing quite nicely. Today, I've added:
Indigo Episode #044 - The Problem With Paras Orange Episode #100 - A Way Off Day Off Orange Episodes #113-115 Master Quest Episodes #232-237
I also added a few entries to the Translations guide and fixed some other mistakes. Next time I promise not to make up dub names or pretend someone never existed in the dub, hehe...
One of my next tasks should be to totally revamp the character profiles so that they cover all seasons, Pokemon, and actually have a biograpy. May's current profile is a good idea of what to expect, along with the addition of more characters.
Posted by TonberryKing on 25 Jun 2004 at 1:12pm PDT
As some of you may have noticed, you might not have been allowed to vote in Group 4 even though you haven't already voted. Yeah, I forgot all about that, but now it's fixed! And I've also updated the main Idol page with who went through from Group 3. Click here to find out.
In other news, there's been heaps of Anime work by PT, I've been doing next to nothing because of work and all, but there will be some stuff on Puzzle Challenge and Puzzle League up sometime, and Amphy's stuck without Internet, but has been working hard on the TCG section offline.
Lot's of Anime goodies finally added today. First off, I've completely rewritten the introduction to the anime (I think it looks sexy anyway >:p) to give more of an idea of what the show is about..
I've also added two new pages for you viewers to nose through - a Voice Actor/Seiyuu page (feel free to contribute to it), and a page discussing Censorship in the dubbed version of Pokemon. Feel free to contact me with any other suggestions for that page.
Finally, I've added four new episode summaries for the following episodes (yes, all four of these episodes were played on US TV since yesterday): -Orange Ep #101 - The Mandarin Island Miss-Match! -Master Quest Episodes 238 and 239 (Rage of Innocence and As Cold as Pryce) -Advance Episode 301 - A Mudkip Mission!
And since I'm reporting, feel free to check out the new Pokemon Puzzle League section I had no part of working on. :D
Latest Updates, Idol Group 5 Voting Open[permalink]
Posted by Amphy on 29 Jun 2004 at 8:43pm PDT
Well I have finally solved my ISP troubles, so I have returned with a few updates which I have made during my offline time. Firstly, I've added logos, booster pictures, release dates and preconstructed deck names to the TCG page. Go check it out!
At the forums, I have completed our RS icon set so now we have icons for every Pokemon!
Finally, thank you to TonberryKing for updating Idol last week. Also, this week Group 4 is complete, so go check out the latest 7 Pokemon which made it through to Round 2! Group 5 Voting is now open, so be sure to go vote for your favourites, to ensure they don't miss out. Last week was a VERY tough group, with some popular Pokemon narrowly missing out. Vote! Vote! Vote!
I've added episode summaries for almost all of the episodes that aired in the US this week, for a total 19 altogether. It would have been a perfect twenty if I didn't sleep through Just One of the Geysters!again. These include:
Today, I have reluctantly agreed to post this news. A Japanese magazine website posted a picture of their next magazine with Pokemon Emerald branding, a picture of Rayquaza basically stating that more information was going to be in their next issue, which is due to come out on July 17th. The picture looked like this:
Now, this was found on this website: http://www.netkun.com/pockemon/top.html BUT if you go there now, they have removed the picture of the issue. I seriously am asking is this all a big hoax? Surely they would have released Emerald before FireRed and LeafGreen. Why would they release pictures of Gonbe from the fourth Generation is they intended to release Emerald next? I personally won't believe this until it comes from a more reliable source. We can only wait and see :)
Voting for Group 5 closed just a short while ago with the most votes cast out of any group! Keep up the great work everyone! It was once again close at the bottom, but the top Pokemon were streaks ahead. Check out the Idol website to see which seven made it through from group 5!
Group six voting is now up, so go and cast your vote and have your say as to who should go through to the next Round!
In other news, I am working on a new project for the site which will be up soon. Keep an eye out!
Well today I have eight new updates! Firstly, 'The PsyLab'. Basically this is a sitemap. I personally find it much easier to navigate around with, especially for making teams and for use in battling. Secondly, I have made a new RS Breeding guide, which covers some of the differences with breeding in RS. Thirdly, I have uploaded Nido's Trainers Guide. This is an awesome piece of work with a lot of basic battle terminology and logistics. Fourthly, a RBY Shopping List. Fifthly, a RBY Items List. Sixthly, I updated the RS Shopping List with shops which arent PokeMarts. Seventhly, I have added pictures to the RS Items List. Eightyly, I have added pictures to the RS Berry Guide. You can check these eight things out below:RS Breeding Guide Basic Trainer's Guide RS Shopping List RS Items List RS Berry/Pokeblock Guide The PsyLab RBY Shopping List RBY Items ListWe have a lot more in the pipeline too, including an update on the Dex making a few changes and a few new features. Also we are planning a FRLG Breeding Guide, an RS/FRLG DV and Hidden Power guide, a Crystal Move Tutors guide, and a Damage Calculator. Plus everything else which is going on including TCG and Anime. We will certainly be getting a lot better very soon so stick around!
Unfortunately, due to a major VCR glitch, summaries for Pokemon Food Fight and Pokemon Double Trouble won't be available until the next time Cartoon Network plays those episodes, i.e., not for a while.
I should be getting around to updating the character profiles... eventually.
I have made a few updates to the FRLG site. To check them out visit: http://www.psypokes.com/lgfr/. The pages updated include the main page, a version differences page has been added, and the FAQS have been modified a bit. Also underway is a very in depth walkthrough, which will be out very shortly. The Elite Four are also working on another project too so stick around :)
Posted by TonberryKing on 12 Jul 2004 at 3:26am PDT
Since the start of the holidays I've been missing out on some PHP coding, so after playing around a bit, I've spruced up the Psydex Search Pages a whole lot and added a few little things, like what level a Pokemon learns a certain attack when you search under the 'Level-Up Attacks' option. Check it out!
Secondly, from updating the search pages, I've compiled a huge database on all 353 attacks from Absorb to Zap Cannon, which gives you info on how it affects battles and contests as well as who learns it and how they learn it. Check out the Psypoke Tech Dex!
And finally, I've finished parts I to VIII of the GSC Walkthrough, but I have yet to do the Optional Areas. No worries, it's in progress so you won't have to wait long.
Well, in the latest CoroCoro Magazine edition Emerald was confirmed. It is set to be released in Japan on September 16th this year. Like FR/LG, it will come with a Wireless adapter and is the Yellow and Crystal equivalent of Ruby and Sapphire. The storyline features both Team Aqua and Team Magma trying to awaken both Kyogre and Groudon, meaning both will be in the game. There are also a lot of new areas in the game. When Pokemon first appear in battle, they will be animated, much like in the Crystal dex. It also appears that other trainers will decide to join a battle midway while in the wild. There are also 7 new Tournaments, one being 'Battle Frontier' which occurs in a giant amusement park, and another being 'Battle Dome' where a player uses only three Pokemon to get through and entire Tournament. Another, 'Battle Tube' requires a player to fight through a labyrinth and pick correct exits. All branding appear to be Rayquaza related, although we aren't yet sure how this will be encorporated. I will post more news as it comes. If you are lucky enough to live in Japan, Pokemon Emerald will be featuring at Pokemon Fiesta 2004 on July 16th 2004. Here are some scans from CoroCoro:
Sorry, image no longer exists. Sorry, image no longer exists. Sorry, image no longer exists.Sorry, image no longer exists.
The first picture shows the battle animations in the bottom left hand corner, and a new area to the right of that which is one of the Tournemant areas I believe. Also the Rayquaza branding above. The second shows the remade female trainer, and down the bottom left it shows the trainer entering your battle midway. To the right is also a new area. The third image shows the Groudon/Kyogre showdown and more new areas up the top, down the bottom are more new areas and either the Battle Dome or Amusement Park from Pokemon Fronteir mode. It also shows the new male trainer. The final image shows clips from the start sequence and the Rayquaza Sugimori artwork.
Well y'all, I finally get caught up on my Episode summaries, which means more time for me to work on character profiles. And I'm finally positive I have my VCR set correctly for every single time Pokemon comes on, so yay! So, here's the episodes that have aired since my last update:
Orange Islands #111 - The Wacky Watcher Johto Journeys #123 & #124 - Illusion Confusion and Flower Power (yay rhyme :P) Master Quests #257-#262 - Why? Why Not! through A Crowning Achievement! Advance #308 - Abandon Ship!
Speaking of Advance, it seems Kids WB is going to air the rest of the repeats of the series (starting with Now That's Flower Power! this weekend) and then we should be getting a new season.
Many thanks to our affilates, GHPD, to finally getting around to fixing our link to us. ^.^

The final addition to the TechDex is a whole lot of search options, found here at the TechDex Search that groups attacks by name, type, effect, base power, contest type, contest effect, jam points and appeal points.

I can't think of a better title for this post.. but anyway, the long overdue RS Deter Value (aka Individual Value) Guide is done. You'll also notice some changes in the graphics around the place (Like the Espeon just below the menu) over the next few weeks or so.
Coming up will be a new useful tool for those experienced battlers, as well as the final section of the GSC Walkthrough, and some (long overdue) information on Pokemon Yellow.
Hey everyone, it's Idol time again! This week there was once again a record number of votes, but only by one!! To see who got through from Group 8 check out the Idol website!
This week it's Group 9...the final Group in Round 1! It has some people's BIG favourites and in my opinion it's the toughest group yet, so be sure to vote otherwise your favourite may miss out!

Holy geez, it's been a while, hasn't? Over two weeks if I count correctly. I haven't been that lazy with the episode summaries... well, ever. Suffice to say, being 18 episodes behind in Anime watching wasn't very fun, especially because it ate up tape space. It was also hard because if I did three summaries in one day... three more would be put into my lap at the fast rate TV is airing Pokemon. So I'd have to work two hours a night just to get a minor step out of the episode backlog. But, now I'm caught up and all is well... for now. Kids WB is going back to one episode an afternoon, so my working load has just been reduced to two daily weekday episodes and one episode daily on the weekends.
So, here's all the freaking episodes that have aired and I've summarized since my last update:
Orange Islands #093 & #094: Bye Bye Psyduck and The Joy of Pokemon Johto Journeys #125 - #134: Snubble Snobbery through For Crying Out Loud Master Quest #263 - #276: Here's Lookin' at You, Elekid! through Hoenn Alone! Advance #277 - #286: Get the Show on the Road! through You Said a Mouthful! Advance #309 + #310: Now That's Flower Power! and Having a Wailord of a Time!
So, that's a total of... 38 episodes if I count correctly. If I ever get this far behind again, hopefully TK or Amphy will do the right thing and put me out of my misery. Oh yes, I've also fixed up any errors with the titles, added Who's That Pokemon?'s to the above Advance eps, and rewriten said episode's summaries. So basically, all Advance episode guides will be rewritten because they suck. And thanks to TK, there's a little 'Move to next season' link at the bottom of each season's guide.
With all this procrastination going on, I haven't touched the Character Profiles at all, but out of extreme guilt, I've enabled the links so you can view them again. There's some new stats for the humans and an unstarted Tracey profiles added. They'll be fully completed when they're fully completed. In the mean time, enjoy the pretty Pokemon sprites and anime pictures.
Nintendo have unveiled the name and first images of the Nintendo DS. Take a look at them on the Official Site
Also Tomy are releasing a new Pokedex toy. For more information check out the Japanese site HERE. Amazon.com are offering it for $39.95 and will ship it on the first of October. Check them out HERE.

Psypoke now has its very own Damage Calculator! It's a very detailed tool for those well advanced with the Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed and LeafGreen games.
In other news, we've decided to upgrade our forums, and as such, we will not be allowing registrations temporarily. By this time next week, we should have a new phpBB up and running.
We'll keep you posted on any information from Psypoke's news page.
Today I have fixed the Psypoke chat Applet! No more undefined strings! So make sure you come in and chat with us HERE
Also, The Pokemon Center have made available for preorder a lot of LGFR stuff. Individuall, each cost $39.95, and the gifts you will receive are a keychain and the trainer's guide. This week in Psypoke Idol the final 7 Pokemon were sent into Round Two, ending Round One. It was certainly a very close group and once again the most votes out of any group!
The judges have also chosen their Wildcards, these have been added on the bottom of the Idol page.
Idol will have a very short break for a few days while we get things sorted for Round Two, and voting for Round Two, Group One will begin on Saturday!

We still need to play around with styles and stuff, and we need customise and personalise the boards so they look like our own :) But at least they're up, and they work, so that's good. The URL of these Forums is exactly the same as before, so you won't need to update your bookmarks. Of course, the new forums can be accessed from the site's menu and quick links.

I've written up a few pages about Pokemon Yellow, namely an introduction including the changes and the anime references, as well as a Surfing Pikachu guide. I think it makes the RBY section a bit more complete. I'll finish off the Starters guide tomorrow.
As for the forums, we've settled in very nicely, with the colours, styles, graphics and options all ready and set in place. The last thing to do is work on people's Custom Titles, and the Pokemon Icons skillfully made by darkmind and Amphy.
And coming soon - the second round of Psypoke Idol!
I am sorry to all of those who couldn't vote in Idol. I forgot to clear the IP list from the last Group. It has now been cleared and everyone is now able to vote.

Another PHP scripting project I've been secretly working on... Pokemon Learnsets! Those of you familar with the RSBot will know what this feature is - it simply lists all possible moves that a Pokemon can learn within a given version. Take a look at the Learnsets Page for yourself!
It's a really useful tool for planning in advance a good moveset for your ultimate team. And it covers all three generations as well as all 386 Pokemon.
In other news, we've put in Pokemon icons for the forums, as well as put in some other miscellaneous features too - small, but nice decorations nonetheless.
The Deoxys which will feature in Emerald is the Speed form and the artwork of this form is shown above. We will have up the learnset and stats of this Deoxys soon. Meanwhile you can check it out in a small Japanese Flash Movie HERE
The first five finalists have been decided...Mew, Blastoise, Blaziken, Venusaur and Latios made it through off your votes. Arcanine and Tyranitar only just missed out! To ensure your favourites go through, make sure you vote!
Group 2 Voting is now open, click HERE to vote or click HERE to check out the Group 1 stats or other Round 2 Information.

Today I added all 386 footprints to each Pokemon's dex entry, as well as their Hoenn Dex Numbers. Yes I am getting very bored.
I also happened to spot an error in the learnsets. Basically I forgot to take into account pre-evolutions and their level-up attack info, so Pokemon like Wobbuffet would not have had Charm or Mimic. This has now been fixed.
With tests and assignment deadlines looming, I won't have much time for site work, but of course everything will still be running fine. We've started plans for a site project, and this will be in full force once my University holidays start.
In the mean time, Idol is still running - we're very close to deciding the contestants who will be in the final round. Don't forget to vote!

Group 3 Voting is now open, click HERE to vote or click HERE to check out the Group 1 and 2 stats or other Round 2 Information.
The Pokemon Trading Card game has organised a tournament based on the Sevii Islands from Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. In doing so they have named each of the islands. The names given are Knot Island, Boon Island, Kin Island, Floe Island, Chrono Island, Fortune Island and Quest Island. You can see these names HERE. We are unsure yet as to whether these names will also be used in the games.
*blink blink* Um. Hi. I know, I haven't touched the Anime section in three weeks. Sorry; I've been obsessed with Final Fantasy X lately, and now I have a summer project to finish. I'll get back to working on the Anime section when I can.
In the meantime, the new season of Pokemon is coming on September 11th (hm). It will be called Pokemon Advance Challenge, which is indeed interesting because the Japanese theme song for these episodes is entitled The Challenger! 4Kids recently dubbed a Pocket Monsters song for Jirachi: Wish Maker, so could a dubbed Challenger! be coming? I hope so; the song has a very interesting sound.

Our Psydex has undergone a huge makeover, we've cut down the loading times of the pages dramatically and made the interface cross-resolution friendly. While the looks have changed, the information remains up-to-date and very comprehensive, making the Psydex one of the most useful tools on the Internet. Check out the improved Psydex 2.0 here.
Our site administration statistics tell us that the Pokedex page has been viewed more than 200,000 times, so the Elite 4 extends a huge thanks to all of you who use it!

Today, the English versions of FireRed and LeafGreen were released and the NYC Pokecenter. We were fortunate enough to obtain a copy and thus can now confirm the English names of the Sevii Islands and locations.

Today we have put all 386 FireRed dex entries into our dex. We have started to add the LeafGreen entries also, and have done 151 so far.
The Dex entries for 1-151 in LeafGreen are identical to the original Red/Blue entries. The Dex entries for 152-251 in FireRed are identical to the Silver entries.
In other news, it is now confirmed the dex entries for LeafGreen Pokemon 151-251 are the same as the Gold Entries. The remaining 252-386 LeafGreen entries will be up shortly
We now have all Dex entries for all Pokemon in our dex from both FireRed and LeafGreen!
Also, we have put up our comprehensive LGFR Walkthrough, which covers almost everything in the game, including the new Teachy TV, how to Mystery Gift and the Sevii Islands. Things still to come include the Fame Checker and the VS Seeker. Check it out: FireRed LeafGreen Walkthrough

Thanks to some pointers from my CompSci class, I've managed to create an awesome PHP Script that does Breeding Chains for the dex! While the processing might be a bit slow, it's definately easier than navigating through the dex trying to find who-breeds-with-what-and-whatever.
Also, the Fame Checker guide for the LGFR Section is up, as well as the World Map, an interactive flash that emulates the Town Map on your GBA game! The Sevii Islands walkthrough is still being updated with English translations, but you can still use it to get through the game.
And finally, because we love feedback, you can now contact us through a site email form available by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
Today the votes were tallied and we have found the winner of Psypoke Idol 2004!
To see who won watch the flash on the Idol homepage HERE!
On the Idol site are also links to results from all three Rounds including all results from the final. I hope you have enjoyed Psypoke Idol as much as we have. I would like to thank everyone who voted, it was great to see over 400 votes in the final!

I've added a Mega-Search function to the Pokedex whereby you can specify several options as criteria for searching. In other words, it's just like the Search in the Ruby/Sapphire dex where you can specify Name, Type, Colour and so on, as well as selecting a Sorting Method. It's very useful! Give it a go here
Posted by TonberryKing on 9 Sep 2004 at 9:20pm PDT
I've shifted some of the pages around the site - only the Dex, Ruby/Sapphire and LeafGreen/FireRed sections have been affected. The three Pokemon Tools from the RS section (Hidden Power, Damage and Stat Calculators) are now in the Dex section.
Also, pages in the RS section that also apply to LGFR such as attacks and natures have been copied to the LGFR section and updated accordingly.
Also, the Sevii Islands walkthrough has been updated with proper English screenshots and a bit more filler information.
And finally, I'm working on something else for the Dex that will make team planning a lot easier.
Posted by TonberryKing on 12 Sep 2004 at 11:23pm PDT
We've added yet another search to the Pokedex, this time, moveset search where you specify up to four moves and the dex searches for any Pokemon that can have those moves on its learnset. Great for finding Baton Passers and HM Slaves. Take a look at the Moveset Search here
Two more things: Firstly, we're proud to announce that we've affiliated with Pokemon Dream. Check out their site using the link above, or click on their button at the bottom of the page. And secondly, Psypoke has reached a milestone! In the four months we've been on the Gamespy network, we've racked up one million pageviews! Thank you to everyone that uses the site, and we hope you will continue to do so.
And now, for something completely off topic...[permalink]

There's no doubt that Pokemon is a great game, but when it comes to the pinnacle of RPG gaming, Final Fantasy is usually seen as the best. Over at the forums, I'm hosting an FF character tournament including characters from FFVII through X-2. You can click on here to read about the tournament and to vote, you can e-mail me at ptparatroopa@yahoo.com, or join the ever-wonderful forums to vote and then speak of things that are actually Pokemon related!
Last Saturday, Pokemon Advanced Challenge began airing in America with the episode 'What You Seed is What You Get.' The new season got a brand new theme song (which sounds a lot more... anime-y than the previous weird pop/rock/rap theme song hybrids) and 'Who's That Pokemon?' was replaced as a commercial eyecatch with a 'which of three Pokemon is the srongest against the fourth?' type-deal. While the anime section is on hiatus for a while, I'll be sure to get it updated once I find time, and I'll post anything vital in this lovely news section.
Firstly, the Gym Leaders and Elites have changed some of their Pokemon and levels. Click here to check out our new Emerald Gym Leaders and Elites Guide. Wallace is a Gym Leader to start with, but he then gets replaced by the new leader Adan. This is because Wallace is now the new champion! You can also go back and take on each gym again, and each time the leader's Pokemon get stronger. I will have the other Gym Leader's teams up tomorrow.
Secondly, the level up attacks are the same in Emerald as they are in Ruby and Sapphire which saves us a lot of time. Deoxys of course has its new level up attacks list which we updated a while ago, today we also added it's stats to the dex.
Thirdly, we have started making animations of the Emerald Pokemon. We will be adding these to the PicDex. Since many browsers can't handle the frame rate of the animations, they'll appear slower on the site than on your Gameboy Advance.
Please note: DO NOT take these for your own site without our permission. If you would like to request permission to use them, use the contact form. It is highly unlikely that you will allowed to unless you are an affiliate of Psypoke. You may provide a link directing people to our site. We WILL know if you take these, so take note that you have be warned.
Mew, Rayquaza, Kyogre, Groudon, Ho-oh, Lugia, Latios, Latias Deoxys and the Regis are all available in Emerald! Mew, Deoxys, Ho-oh and Lugia can be obtained by getting a ticket from a Nintendo Event or a Gameshark. Navel Rock and Birth Island have been added in Emerald. Also Sudowoodo can be found in Emerald. We're still working away on the animations, 65 done so far :)
Just to clear up two FAQs we have been having lately about Emerald.
1) The contests houses have all been combined into one contest house with all 4 ranks and all the original contest types. The contest house can be found in Lilycove City.
2) To get into the Safari Zone, you need to get the Pokeblock Case. You can get this from the lady on the left behind the counter at the Lilycove Contest House.
We will be getting a lot of guides up soon, we been very busy lately so sorry for the delay. We will also be putting accurate data into the dex soon regarding locations etc. We now have over 100 Emerald animations up. Here are some of the cooler ones so far:
Here is a list of all the Emerald animations we currently have up: Emerald Animations List. You can view these Pokemon's animations in the Picdex. There are currently 186 done.
Shortly we will have Emerald Move Tutor attacks for all Pokemon in the dex, as well as their Emerald Locations. When the Move Tutor attacks are added to the dex they will also be incorporated into the Moveset and Learnset Searches as well as the Attack Dex.
Hi everyone! Sorry for the recent downtime. Luckily it didn't last too long.
We have now added all Emerald Locations to the dex. The Move Tutor moves will be added in a few hours time meaning all Emerald information (except English Dex entries) will be in our dex :)
The Emerald Move Tutor moves have now all been added to the Psydex, bringing it up to date with all available Emerald information. Emerald locations were added this morning. Use the Psydex link to access the dex and then click on 'Tutored Moves'. Learnsets and the Moveset Search also now have Emerald moves.
Posted by TonberryKing on 24 Sep 2004 at 1:19pm PDT
I've done a few more animations, bringing our total up to 232 Pokemon animations! This batch contains many legendaries - RBY's birds, GSC's beasts, RSE's Regis, Mewtwo, Jirachi and Celebi. Head over to the Picture Dex for a full list, and of course, to see the animations for yourself.
244 Emerald animations are now complete and can be viewed in the Picdex.
Today I also added maps for all areas to the LGFR Walkthrough. There are now complete maps of: Icefall Cave, Cinnabar Mansion, Rocket's HQ, Rock Tunnel, Safari Zone, Seafoam Islands, Victory Road Cave and Viridian Forest. The links to these can be found on the relevant pages of the FireRed/LeafGreen Walkthrough.
Finally, we apologise for the recent downtime, and I can assure you it wont be permanent.
Posted by TonberryKing on 29 Sep 2004 at 6:30pm PDT
I've updated the Items Held section of the Psydex - it now covers the GSC Tradebacks (Items you get from trading a Pokemon from another version) as well as the Emerald and LGFR items you get from wild Pokemon.
Also, I've added Volt Tackle to Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu's egg moves. The final of the elemental super-moves, Volt Tackle can be bred onto a Pichu by having two Pikachu/Raichu mate, with one of them holding a Light Ball. Neither of these Pokemon need to know the move beforehand - it will automatically appear.
As for miscellaneous things, two of the site's visitors have kindly informed us of two things. Firstly, there are small dark patches that can be found all over LGFR that signal a hidden berry. Take a look at the LGFR FAQs for more information. Secondly, the LGFR walkthrough has been corrected to show that you can encounter wild Marill in the water.

One of our very diligent and observant forum members, sim2500, notified the Elite Four that the Breeding Chains were broken, and indeed, I had messed it all up when I had added Volt Tackle to Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu's egg moves. And that has been fixed. By chance, I also happened to note another bug in the actual algorithm that made things go weird and wonky.. and you don't need to know the details :P But this too has been fixed and everything should be working fine.
If you spot an error in the dex, please notify us immediately by using the Contact Form at the bottom of the page. Help us, help you!
Also, we have been notified by GameSpy Tech Support that the periodic downtimes have been fixed.
With the University year drawing to an end (We finish in mid November), it can only mean one thing - EXAMS. In other words, Amphy and I will be busy studying for our finals and you probably won't see us for a while, but not to worry, after exams are over we have almost four months of summer holidays! There's going to be a big site project over this time - you'll see soon enough.
Today Nintendo have unveiled plans for three new Pokemon games for the new DS.
Firstly Pokemon Dash.
Pokemon Dash is a new style of racing game with Pokemon, similar to Mario Kart Super Circuit for GBA. It uses both screens of the Nintendo DS and is controlled by the slide pen. It is compatible with Emerald, and features Gonbe. It also appears to have some minigames included. Looking at the screenshot of Pikachu with balloons, one game appears to be similar to one seen on MonkeyBall where you try to land on a target. Dash is set to be released in Japan on the 2nd of December. For more information and screenshots of Pokemon Dash click HERE.
Secondly, Nintendo have unveiled plans to release the fourth generation Pokemon games on the DS in 2005 - Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl. These games will most likely be an RPG like R/B/Y/G/S/C/R/S/E/FR/LG and should feature Gonbe, Snorlax's pre-evolution. That is all that is known about Diamond and Pearl at the moment.
Nintendo have also announced plans to use the wireless connection on the DS somehow in the next Pokemon movie so players can download data into their DS's while in the theatre.
We'll keep you posted with more news as we get it :)

As you might have noticed, we have a slightly new site template that just fits nicer on a 1024x768 or greater resolution. And due to popular request, I've changed the Mew at the bottom right to a nicer, less freakish looking picture. You'll also notice that the Picdex and Learnsets pages have been fully integrated into the main Psydex template, so the buttons on the left side of the screen work nicely.
We also have some new Emerald Animations!
We do have the remaining 100 Pokemon or so stored away, and they just need to be converted into animated GIFs. Head over to the PicDex to take a look at the newest ones.

I'm actually cheating and going through the database, we don't actually update news this way but it seems we don't have any other choice. But ANYWAY! yes we are back online, yes the site appears to be up, but the problem is that we can't access anything via FTP. We have noticed that there are several errors around the place, namely, the Psydex, the Picdex, the TechDex, the Walkthroughs and everything that has a question mark ? in the url. You may also notice that clicking on certain links brings up the "Page cannot be displayed error" - this is beyond our control at this stage, and all we can recommend is to hit Refresh a few times until it is resolved.
We have been told that we will gain site access very soon so please sit tight. Check our forums for any details as well. Gamespy have apologised for the downtime and the slowness of restoring everything back to normal, but I think it's better late than never :)
When we do gain site access, I'll upload the remaining Emerald Animations (Yes! We'll soon have all 386), and I'll fix the problems with the Psydex, etc. If you have any queries, you can still contact us using our email psypoke@classicgaming.com (I'd advise you not to use the Contact Form at this stage) , or you can post a message at the forums. Thanks for being patient (It is a virtue) and we apologise for any inconveniences caused.
Posted by TonberryKing on 29 Oct 2004 at 11:06pm PDT
So 24 hours after I reactivated the site, I still can't log on via FTP. The only method of communication between myself and Gamespy is email, and I've sent one off asking for help. I don't know what's going on anymore... I know it's annoying and inconvenient, but there's nothing that we can do about it.
I guess we'll just have to sit tight and wait. Please bear with us, and I'm sure that this will be resolved soon enough.
Happy Halloween! We did have a cool banner to put up but due to the lack of access we cant :/
We are aware that our Contact Form doesn't work! If you have sent us anything via it recently, we wouldn't have received it. Try emailing us at psypoke@classicgaming.com and if that doesnt work, as a last resort use psypoke@gmail.com
We do know about the following things which several people have informed us about, but haven't been able to post:
1) Gonbe's English name is Munchlax
2) The 7th Movie's English title is "Destiny Deoxys!"
3) As you can see in past posts, Pokemon Dash, a racing game, Pokemon Pearl and Pokemon Diamond, (Pokemon RPGs, rumoured to be the final games in the Pokemon series) are confirmed for the Nintendo DS!
4) A recent anime episode in Japan was delayed as it featured an Earthquake theme, and Northern Japan has just suffered from a series of devastating Earthquakes.
I'll keep you posted on anything else new until we get access back :)
Posted by TonberryKing on 1 Nov 2004 at 11:31am PST
FTP is back! Watch as the site slowly comes back to life - and the first thing you can take a look at are the NEW Pokemon Emerald Animations. All 386 have now been uploaded for your viewing pleasure.
And it kinda goes without saying, but the PicDex is working again :P That means that the Pokedex, the TechDex, their Search Functions, the Walkthroughs and everything else that wasn't working before should be working now.
And you are now free to contact us using our Contact Form at the bottom of the page too :)
Posted by TonberryKing on 4 Nov 2004 at 2:43pm PST
While we didn't have access, we still had some nice emails from site viewers who informed us of some details.
As Amphy said earlier, Gonbe's English name was announced, and I have changed its temporary Pokedex page to reflect this.
Also, we have been told that when you trade a Pokemon with PokeRUS from Ruby/Sapphire to LeafGreen/FireRed, the PokeRUS doesn't go away. This is because LGFR doesn't have a time function to keep track of how long PokeRUS has been on your Pokemon! There's a small section on the LGFR FAQs on this.
We should also be finishing the LGFR Walkthrough sometime.

Once again, the site went down over the weekend and many of you would've been redirected to the IGN 404 Error page (A familiar sight.. or site, recently). We haven't had an explanation for this, but hopefully it will be the last time that the site will be having troubles. Thank you to all those who sent emails to us!
Now, we'll be reworking parts of the site and adding a few things here and there. I noticed the Psylab needs a bit of updating. There's also a few things I'd like to do to the template to make it a bit nicer in non-IE browsers.
A few people have said that Psypoke started the rumour that Diamond and Pearl were the last games in the series. Now all I reported was that "There was a rumour that....". The rumour formed from a comment made by Tsunekazu Ishihara, president of Creatures Inc. which was
"We've developed many entries in the Pokemon series. Among those, titles such as Pokemon Ruby & Saphire and Emerald are the backbone of the series. We've started developing the NDS Pokemon Diamond & Pearl as the true successors to these games. They will be the definitive entries in the series, so please look forward to them."
Posted by TonberryKing on 9 Nov 2004 at 6:05pm PST
As you can see, we've got a slightly new template, allowing more items to be added to the QLinks bar (What items? You'll see soon!). I've also updated the Psylab with a different look, and working links.
Other changes you might have noticed are that the RBY and GSC sections now have an Attacks List, and the RS and LGFR sections now have a Battle Chart, just there for handy reference. The RS Trainer's Guide has been tweaked a little bit, with nicer formatting and icons added to make it look better. There's also a Held Items Search for the Psydex, allowing you to look up which items are held by Pokemon for GSC, RS and LGFR.
The biggest addition to the site is the Type Analyser, which will take in 6 Pokemon's types and will output your team's weaknesses, resistances and immunities.
Posted by TonberryKing on 11 Nov 2004 at 5:26pm PST
Yay for the IGN 404 Error page, which once again reared its (ugly) head for the past day or so. We are trying to get this resolved, really, we are.
In other news, Farfetch'd, Mr Mime and Glalie's missing Emerald Tutor moves have now been added and also the Search All page has been fixed after some weird bugs were spotted.
Sorry for the upbeat opening, and I'm sure you're probably wondering what's going on with the Anime section. You see, my heart just hasn't been into it for the past three months, and as such, it's been rotting away in that sad little corner of PsyPokian webspace.
Well, I think that's going to change. School is going well, and as long as I don't drive myself crazy with backlog (some good advice: sometimes you just have to let it go when you're too far behind), I think I can resume watching the show and writing up summaries.
So, with that, I added the episode list for Pokemon Advanced Challenge, complete with all the titles of all those dub shows I missed while I was out to lunch. And I added some "lost," summaries for A Bite to Remember and The Lotad Lowdown. Somehow I had those on my computer but not on the site, so there you go.
Posted by TonberryKing on 7 Dec 2004 at 10:35pm PST
We're all very busy as the year draws to an end, so there's not a lot of site work being done at the moment. Once I get off work over the Christmas holidays I should be able to get some things done though, so wait a few weeks and see.
Posted by TonberryKing on 19 Dec 2004 at 10:51pm PST
Well first of all, we celebrated two years of hard-work and success with Psypoke's Second Birthday since myself, Amphy, darkmind and Frost became the new Elite Four on Friday 17th December! You would've noticed the banner on our site that's been there for a few days has just been taken off.
With the year coming to an end, it means I get time off my job to work on the site, and there's quite a few things I've planned... but I don't feel like listing them all now :p
And on a side note, I've fixed the numerical search for the Psydex, and thanks to our forums member leet for for spotting that error.
Posted by TonberryKing on 25 Dec 2004 at 5:20pm PST
Well I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, with plenty of presents and plenty of good food, but most of all, plenty of time with family and friends.
Today, I added a long-overdue Dash button to the menu, as well as created a new set of pages under the PsyDex section. These pages are Psypoke's Training Guides, that will help you when training your Pokemon for a tournament or a battle with your friends. There are three guides at the moment: Basic Trainer's Guide (Moved from the RS Section), Double Battles Guide contributed by Dr DoubleDuel and an EV Training Guide, which lists some good places to build up your Pokemon's stats. There's also an EV Search for the Psydex, where you can find all Pokemon that award EVs for a given stat.
It's been an awesome year, and as we draw to the end of 2004, Psypoke has been through so much and has accomplished so many things. Thank you to all of you who have contributed to making the site what it is today, thank you to all of you who have supported us through tough times, and thank you to all the visitors who appreciate all time and effort. A special thanks to Gamespy for putting up with us, and our bombardment of e-mails!
Posted by TonberryKing on 31 Dec 2004 at 9:00pm PST
Wishing you all a happy new year - welcome to 2005! Just a small notice, we've put up an "About Us" page that has our profiles and a gallery of our site banners. We'll put up the Site History some other times.. it does require quite a lot of writing. Take a look at the page here.
