Though actual news from Pokemon sources has been slow lately, things have been keeping busy around here.
Over the last week I've been making a lot of little changes to the Psydex. If you'd noticed it acting funny, my apologies; there were a few things I initially overlooked. Everything should be back to normal now, but let me know if anything still acts funny.
The primary change has been in how we handle Japanese names. Previously, only Pokemon's Japanese names were stored permanently. Attacks and Abilities were designed to use Japanese names until the English ones were revealed, and then switch over. Now, English names will be used where available, but the Japanese names will be preserved as well. You can even search the site using Japanese names now, if you happen to have learned a few of them.
In addition, high-resolution Sugimori art of many of the new Pokemon is available, and has been added to the Psydex as well. Between that and the art from the online Dream World, most new Pokemon have high-quality, non-sprite art available now, though a few of them (such as some of the event Pokemon) have not yet been released.
Our Black and White section has also been updated with confirmed information pertaining to the English releases.
Lastly, don't forget to take advantage of Gamestop's Nintendo Events giveaways for the legendary beasts and Celebi.
Once again, the official website for Black and White (as well as our hosts, IGN) has been updated with new information on Black and White.
Your rivals' names are Bianca and Cheren. N will retain his name. Professor Juniper's assistant is Fennel; she'll ask you to bring her some Dream Mist from Munna and Musharna. As for the Pokemon, say hello to -Patrat the Scout Pokemon -Musharna the Drowsing Pokemon -Woobat the Bat Pokemon -Drilbur the Mole Pokemon -Cofagrigus the Coffin Pokemon -Gothitelle the Astral Body Pokemon -Reuniclus the Multiplying Pokemon -Axew the Tusk Pokemon -Braviary the Valiant Pokemon
Then, we have the abilities Overcoat, Sand Force, Mummy, and Sand Rush.
It has also been announced that the Legendary Beasts currently available at GameStop locations will be available over WiFi starting on February 7th.
Release dates for Europe - March 4th, and Australia/New Zealand - March 10th, have also been confirmed. You can check for more release dates in your area on the official site.
Lastly, to help promote Black and White, an American Mall tour has been announced. From February 5th until March 20th, the tour will travel the US during the weekends. You can see the full schedule in the official press release. (Regrettably, I won't be in town for the launch-weekend event at the Mall of America.)
With less than 2 months left before the release of Black and White, what are you most looking forward to? Which do you plan to get (or, which will you play first if you get both)?
Don't forget to continue picking up the legendary beasts and eventually Celebi at your nearest GameStop store to unlock Zorua and Zoroark in Black and White when they come out in about 40 days.

The list of Nintendo Events has been updated again. Now included are both a Zoroark and a Zuruggu for Japan, as well as a distribution of the Liberty Pass in Europe.
A few important things to note: this is the first English-language publication to use Victini's name - see Page 59. Also, all of these events will be conducted over WiFi connection. Due to the timing, the Zuruggu will only be available to Japan, but the Zoroark and Liberty Pass are likely to be available to all players, since the games will have released in much of the world by that point.
Other new events include the Legendary Beasts for Europe, also over Nintendo WiFi Connection, and a Celebi available at Spaceworld stores in Norway. The beasts will likewise be available to non-European players as well thanks to the nature of the Nintendo WFC.

Our hosts here at IGN have revealed another batch of various English names.
Pansage has been confirmed as the Grass Monkey Pokemon with the signature Acrobatics attack Victini's name from the magazine the other day is confirmed Deerling is the Season Pokemon with an optional Sap Sipper ability Basculin is known as the Hostile Pokemon in both of its colors Excadrill's name has also been confirmed from the previous posting Swanna retains its Japanese name, with the powerful attack Hurricane Watchog is the Lookout Pokemon Alomomola is confirmed as the Healing Pokemon with the Healer ability Sewaddle is confirmed as the Sewing Pokemon
Additionally, some name cards on the official Cartoon Network site for the upcoming Pokemon: Black and White dub season seem to imply that Iris, the final Gym Leader in Pokemon White, will retain her Japanese name, while Dento, the Grass-type Gym Leader of the first Gym, will be called Cilan. Pokemon: Black and White debuts on February 12 with two episodes, and the Zoroark movie will air a week prior on February 5.
Only 5 weeks remain until the release of Black and White in English. What are you most looking forward to?
The Global Link is a system that allows Pokemon Black and White DS games to be synced up to an online account. From there, players can continue playing on the PC.
The Dream World allows players to design a home for their Pokemon, and features a garden where berries can be grown. Other Pokemon and items can also be found in the Dream World, and then transferred back to Black and White DS games.
The Global Link allows more connectivity to other players as well. In addition to visiting the Dream World of your own Pokemon, you can also stop by your friends' accounts for other games and to help them grow berries in their gardens.
The Global Battle Union offers online tracking of your battle statistics. You can view your battle history and compare your ranking on a global scale. If your ranking is high enough, you can even receive an invite to an official tournament.
The Global Trade Station also returns, allowing you trade Pokemon with players all over the world.
So what are your thoughts on the Global Link feature?
The Global Link and Dream World officially retain their names, while the High Link has become the Entralink, and the videophone has been dubbed the Xtranceiver.
Speaking of the Dream World, an interview with the American localization coordinator has revealed that the Dream World feature will be launching after the initial game release, to help prevent the server overloads that happened with the Japanese release last fall.
Lastly, the Official Nintendo Magazine UK has posted a video of the first Gym Battle - Striaton City, home of the Trio Badge. The Gym Leaders are Cilan (grass), Chili (fire), and Cress (water). Each of them will battle with a Lillipup. It also confirms that Cress uses a Panpour, a Pokemon that will make use of the move Work Up to buff its attacks.
Only a few short weeks remain until the English release of Black and White. What are your thoughts so far?
Exclusive T-Shirt Offer, More English Confirmations[permalink]
Posted by Jigglypuff on 2 Feb 2011 at 3:08pm PST Updated on 2 Feb 2011 at 7:00pm PST
And now for something completely different.
I'm very excited to announce that we have an exclusive offer for all our visitors. Qwertee is a website which sells limited editions of tshirts for a great deal. A design is only made once, and once it sells, it's gone forever, and the design available is changed every weekday.
Beginning at 11pm GMT on Thursday February 3rd, a new design will be on sale at Qwertee. This Team Rocket shirt will be available throughout the weekend (until 11pm GMT on Sunday).
Available in black, this shirt has a large Team Rocket "R" on the front. Below, the text "Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!" is printed.
Normally, a Qwertee shirt costs ₤8 or €10 (about $12.50) plus shipping. However, we're excited to announce that this shirt is eligible for a ₤1/€1 discount if you use the promotional code "Psypoke" at checkout!
We're very excited to be able to partner with Qwertee to offer this discount on what we think is a really cool shirt. Remember, it's only available for a limited time, so if you want one, make sure you order one when they go on sale!
If you're an artistic sort of person, you may wish to check out Qwertee as well. Their designs are all submitted by their users, and the ones most popular in their polls get made into shirts like the one you see here. So, if that's your thing, design us some more Pokemon-themed shirts. This one is definitely a winner in the Psypoke Staff's book.
EDIT: The folks at the Official Nintendo Magazine UK have once again confirmed more of the rumored English Pokemon names. We now have Timburr and Tympole confirmed from an official and reputable source.
Lastly, if you want a cool Team Rocket tshirt, check out Qwertee before 11pm GMT Sunday. We're excited to offer an exclusive ₤1/€1 (about $1.35 USD) discount on all purchases of this shirt via the promo code "Psypoke" at checkout.
What do you think of Victini, and the ever-growing list of officially confirmed English names? Are you going to order a Team Rocket tshirt?
In addition to these, Incinerate, the berry-destroying Fire-type attack, keeps its Japanese translation. We also know that the 7th Gym is in Icirrus City, and that north of the city lies Dragonspiral Tower.
Then, the IGN network has begun running an ad featuring Triple Battles, which reveals several more Pokemon, seen in this article. The Official Nintendo Magazine UK has also posted more screenshots revealing even more names. From these, we get:
Herdier the Loyal Dog Pokemon and evolution of Lillipup, the Puppy Pokemon. It can use Retaliate. Purrloin the Devious Pokemon and Liepard the Cruel Pokemon, the early-game Dark-type cats. Curiously, there is a screenshot showing a wild Liepard using Round, which it can only learn via TM. Pansear the High Temp Pokemon, finally confirmed as the final elemental monkey, with Panpour confirmed as the Spray Pokemon, with the signature move Scald. Audino the Hearing Pokemon, the first "special" encounter Pokemon you'll find in the wild. In conjunction with its abilities, the Heal Pulse attack can make it a powerful healer. Yamask the Spirit Pokemon, which evolves into Cofagrigus. Its Hex can deal extra damage to opponents already suffering status effects. Cinccino, the evolved form of Minccino, seen only in the ad so far. Sawsbuck the Season Pokemon, the evolution of Deerling, which still changes appearance based on seasons. It learns Horn Leech. Emolga the Sky Squirrel Pokemon, which uses the speed-based Electro Ball attack. Galvantula the EleSpider Pokemon, a tarantula-inspired Pokemon. Fraxure and Haxorus the Axe Jaw Pokemon, who are evolved forms of Axew.
These Pokemon may have the new Regenerator or Unnerve Abilities.
There's only 4 weeks left until these games are released around the world. From what you've seen so far, what are you most looking forward to?
Posted by Jigglypuff on 11 Feb 2011 at 10:24am PST
First off, the Official Site for Black and White has updated with the Pokemon revealed by IGN and ONM UK previously, as well as information on other game aspects, such as Team Plasma and the story, the Dream World, Pokemon Musicals, and more!
Up next, you'll notice that the Events list has been updated with Europe's Celebi distribution; the exact store and dates vary from one country to another, so check the official Nintendo site for your country to get the specifics.
Finally, IGN has published a Q&A on the 3DS which states that Pokemon Black and White, while not fully 3D, will feature some sort of enhancement when played on the upcoming handheld.
Do you plan to get a 3DS when they come out? Will you buy one for the inevitable next Pokemon game that will come out on the new handheld?
Posted by Jigglypuff on 18 Feb 2011 at 10:50am PST Updated on 18 Feb 2011 at 3:09pm PST
Sorry for being so quiet this week; I promise, there's a good reason, and you'll find out soon.
Official Nintendo Magazine UK has posted a few more articles and videos, as well as some concept art. We can now confirm the names of Skyarrow Bridge, Driftveil City, and the ocean liner Royal Unova.
The folks at IGN have interviewed Junichi Masuda, and also redacted a previous statement on 3DS enhancements for Black and White. Whether these features don't actually exist, or if this is a marketing ploy remains to be seen.
Lastly, please be advised that our forums will be closing down for maintenance this weekend. The maintenance will last an indefinite period of time, and will likely begin tonight.
In an unrelated manner, we've got another cool website you should check out.
TheSpeedGamers was founded by a couple gamers who wanted to do a marathon weekend. Their initial idea grew to streaming their progress on the internet, and then to doing it for charity. Since that first marathon in March 2008, TSG has expanded to include members from around the world, and has gone on to do multiple marathons for a myriad of charities and causes; Some of which include St. Jude, Susan G. Komen, ACT Today, and Ally's House. They have proven that gamers can do more then just play games, they can also help save or better the lives of others.
They've raised over $254,995.67 for various charities in the past 2 years. And now, they're gearing up for a marathon to celebrate the release of Black and White. A marathon of Gen I and II games will raise money for ALSA. We hope you'll check out the marathon when it starts on March 11th!
Japanese Updates, English Characters, Site Status[permalink]
Posted by Jigglypuff on 22 Feb 2011 at 4:49am PST
The Official Japanese Pokedex has now been updated to include all Pokemon up through Kyuremu (キュレム). This update does not include the three event-only legendary Pokemon who follow in National Dex order.
Another article from Official Nintendo Magazine UK discusses some aspects of the Battle Subway, and names it's bosses; Emmet and Ingo.
Our forums remain offline for an extended period of maintenance. This maintenance should conclude soon, and I promise it'll be worth the wait. In the meantime, if you have any feedback to give on this news post, we encourage you to take advantage of our social media presence. You can find us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.
I apologize for the fact that the site is running so slowly today. We're in the process of getting that fixed up, but it takes time.
You may have noticed a few changes around the site. I won't go into details now, but we've been keeping busy. Regretfully, due to the current server issues, I had to close the forums back down after having only just reopened them yesterday. Don't worry, they'll be back soon.
For now, we're doing what we can to try to keep the server as stable as possible, and thank you for your patience. It will not go unrewarded. Until then, enjoy the new Pokemon Black and White site theme!

Hello everyone!
Black and White are out in Europe now. The Psydex has been updated with a wealth of information from the English versions of the games. There's still so much to do of course.
Our server is still quite overworked. We're doing our best to adjust things. For right now, leaving the forums offline actually makes a huge difference. The other big help is that if the site is loading slowly for you, please don't refresh pages that are still loading. It will only make them load slower, not faster.
Feel free to take advantage of our Facebook page to post talkbacks in the mean time. Thank you for your patience and we hope to get everything running smoothly soon.

It's been a busy two weeks for us, especially this past week. Here's a breakdown of what's happened.
We've invested in our own server. You'll notice that IGN's ads are gone now. As the owners of our new server, we have a much greater degree of control over the website.
Of course, this hasn't been without its own set of challenged. We've spent the last week trying to optimize and tweak the new server. As of now, we've made several key changes that we believe should keep things running smoothly. Of course, that may all change come Sunday morning.
With Black and White now out in Europe, our Psydex has received a nice little upgrade. All the English names for Pokemon, attacks, abilities, and locations have been added. English Pokedex entries are now available as well.
The Walkthrough for Black and White has also been updated with another part, and the previous four parts have been revised to use the confirmed English names for the new Pokemon, moves, abilities, characters and locations. More guides are on the way as well.
The forums have been reactivated (for the moment), but creation of new accounts is not possible at this time, due to an issue with the registration process. We'll have this resolved as soon as possible. Also note that should the server become overwhelmed again with the North American release of Black and White, the forums may again be closed down to try to stabilize core site functions like the Psydex.
Welcome to the Fifth Generation of Pokemon, and the Sixth Generation of Psypoke!
Posted by Jigglypuff on 8 Mar 2011 at 1:23pm PST Updated on 8 Mar 2011 at 1:32pm PST
With Black and White now released in Europe and North America, we've made several changes around the site. Here's an overview.
The Psydex has been updated with location data for most Pokemon. There are a few exceptions - some event-only Pokemon and the White Forest are the most notable, and will soon follow.
Related, we have the Unova Region World Map, which contains the Wild Pokemon information from the Psydex.
Between working on adding information and trying to keep the server as stable as possible, I've also begun playing through White again from the beginning, now in English of course. You can watch the English videos on the Videos page.
In other news, don't forget that this weekend, TheSpeedGamers will be hosting a Gen I & II marathon for charity!
Lastly, the awesome people at OverClocked ReMix released a Pokemon album to celebrate the release of Gen V. I've been listening The Missingno Tracks for the last week now and enjoying it a lot. Check it out.
Have you already begun playing? What are you enjoying so far about the games? Or, are you still deciding which to buy?
Posted by Jigglypuff on 12 Mar 2011 at 11:54pm PST
And there's still so much to do...
Before we begin, though, our thoughts/prayers/hearts go out to the Japanese people in the wake of this devastating earthquake and tsunami. You may have heard some terrible rumors flying around, but rest assured that Nintendo of Japan and all its staff are safe.
Back on the homefront, things have been busy as ever. We seem to be experiencing an issue with our mailserver again, so if you've recently signed up for an account on our forums, but have not received the registration confirmation email, please use the forum's login page to request a new email be sent. If it still fails, you can use the contact form and we'll make sure your account gets activated.
I've also been tweaking the Psydex's Search functionality. It's now several orders of magnitude more efficient and more detailed. If you search for a term that could potentially match more than one thing, such as "mime," you not only get a list of potential matches, but a much better breakdown of why the Psydex thinks you might have meant each option. This is especially useful when it's returning Pokemon whose names in other languages may have matched what you're searching for.
The Psydex itself has been updated to include French and German names of the Gen V Pokemon, as well as tutored and gifted moves (which are also now listed in the TechDex).
Lastly, the Black and White Walkthrough has been updated to feature new screenshots for the parts that were written based on a Japanese copy of the game, and Part 6 has been posted as well.
There's still more coming, of course; we're all still pretty busy with the new games. What are you enjoying most so far? What would you like to see us focus our efforts on next?
Posted by Jigglypuff on 18 Mar 2011 at 12:43am PDT
Since the previous update, here's what we've been up to.
First, the Legendary Pokemon Guide has been revised, moving a few of the Pokemon listed there over to the more accurately named Special Pokemon Guide. This new guide details Pokemon that, while not legendary, have similar sorts of unique encounters.
To go along with that, we've put together a short guide on the Generation IV Connectivity - the ways to get your Pokemon from Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver into Black and White. Pay special attention to the use of the Relocator for Zorua and Zoroark's events.
We're also aware that we continue to face some registration issues on our forums. This stems from a security update to the software that wasn't fully compatible with our forum's styling. I'm working on getting the necessary updates made as quickly as possible.
Community Reshuffling, More on Black and White[permalink]
Posted by Jigglypuff on 22 Mar 2011 at 10:58pm PDT
Spring has sprung (at least in the real world - not so much in Black and White). It's always such a busy time of year, isn't it?
First off, I was finally able to fix forum registration once again yesterday. The downside is that applying a new theme to the forums takes a really long time, and I'm still not done. So, you'll notice that the forums might look a little funny for a while. I'll patch things up as I have time.
We've also decided to adjust how we brand ourselves around the internet, especially in social aspects. To that end, we're migrating to a new YouTube channel, PsypokeMedia, a better representation of what we actually use the channel for. If you previously subscribed to our old channel, please subscribe to the new one as well.
In terms of Black and White, we've added a few more pages as well.
The Version Exclusives page has been reworked to make the information easier to read, separating out the 100 Pokemon who are obtainable only via White Forest. As mentioned in the previous update's Talkbacks, I also added a section on Pokemon which are mistakenly called exclusive to one version.
Our list of Pre-Generation V Pokemon has also been reworked for clarity, and now includes a list of Pokemon not available within the games themselves regardless.
With that, I'll leave you with a bit more gameplay from the new games, in celebration of our new YouTube channel.
As you may know, Frost is our resident TCG guy. Over several years of collecting cards, he's gotten a lot of duplicates that are just taking up space. So, to make room for more new cards, he's auctioning off 5800 extras. If you're a TCG collector, you might want to check it out and see if he has some cards you're looking for. The whole collection is one big lot, and you can find a list of all the cards here.
Have you ever played the Pokemon TCG? How much did you play or collect? Let us know!
BW Walkthrough, Hidden Ability Eeveelution Game and More[permalink]
Posted by Frost on 30 Mar 2011 at 7:22am PDT Updated on 30 Mar 2011 at 10:47am PDT
Well, it's been up for a few days now, but now's as good a time as any to announce in a news update that Part 7 of the BW walkthrough has been added. Part 1 and Part 2 also have been revised based on the English copies of the game. Parts 3-5 will be revised a bit later, but parts 6 and 7 are already final.
Some other new pages include a Calendar Guide for Black and White, including major changes between the hours, days and seasons of the year; and our Amnesia Attack layout has changed a bit to have "Time Remaining" and "Score" next to each other, so more answers can fit on the screen at once.
Also, today on Pokemon.com is a new game called "Play to Befriend a Pokemon." It's a Breakout clone with four levels. After beating all four levels and, based on the items you collected throughout the game, you can win an Eeveelution for your Pokemon.com account that can be transferred to BW when the Dream World is opened at a later, postponed date. Unfortunately, only one Eeveelution can be won per account, although you can deny the Eeveelution you've won if it's not the one you wanted and try again for the right one.
Once they're transferred to Black and White, these Eeveelutions will have their Hidden Abilities, meaning: Hydration (Vaporeon), Quick Feet (Jolteon), Guts (Flareon), Magic Bounce (Espeon), Inner Focus (Umbreon), Chlorophyll (Leafeon) and Ice Body (Glaceon). Personally, I won myself an Espeon about an hour ago.
Which is your favorite Eeveelution? Which one do you think has the best Hidden Ability? And which one will you try to win on Pokemon.com?
Now for some of the confusing stuff. The other day, the official Pokemon website had posted an announcement about the Global Link going live next week. Unfortunately, by the time I got back from class, the announcement had been taken down. So, the release of the Global Link is still up in the air at the moment.
The same goes for Victini - or at least obtaining the Liberty Pass. No matter which language you're viewing the Official Black and White site in, it has an announcement about extending the time the Liberty Pass is available. Yet, while the page for Great Britain has this updated information, the US page does not. The Official Nintendo of America Twitter further adds to the confusion.
Since the Liberty Pass is distributed over Nintendo WFC, it shouldn't really matter either way, but if you haven't picked up your Liberty Pass, you should do so sooner, rather than later. I've updated the European end date on our Events list, but left the US one unchanged until we get some clarification.
We're also happy to announce that we'll be running another promo with Qwertee, the people behind the Team Rocket shirt earlier this year. A new design will go on sale in a few days, and we'll have an exclusive promo code to offer again.
Our former hosts at IGN are running a Pokemon Face-Off contest. So, if you don't want to wait for the next season of Psypoke Idol (hint hint), you might want to vote in their preliminary rounds to narrow down their 100 main contenders.
Lastly, there's a new TCG set for Black and White coming out in two weeks, and it's already generating a lot of hype. Combined with the Pokemon TCG Online, it's a great time to get involved with the TCG!
Posted by Jigglypuff on 12 Apr 2011 at 5:19pm PDT Updated on 13 Apr 2011 at 10:05pm PDT
A few more updates were posted to the official Pokemon website yesterday.
First off, the Secret Egg event is coming. This event will allow players to receive one of 3 Pokemon in an egg. The Pokemon are meant to imitate those seen in the newest season of the anime.
Certain hidden bits of information in your game will determine which of the Pokemon you receive. Options are Ash's Pidove, Iris's Axew, or Cilan's Pansage. The events list has been updated accordingly.
In addition, an announcement confirmed that the Global Link is scheduled to launch tomorrow.
Despite what the announcement says, the Global Link itself is now online. It is currently rather slow due to the massive amount of traffic it is receiving.
Lastly, we're happy to announce that we've partnered with Qwertee again to offer a special discount on a new shirt design which is now on sale! You can use the promo code "Psypoke-Qwertee" for a 50c/40p discount!
Have you been able to sign in to the Global Link? Which part is your favorite so far?
Posted by Jigglypuff on 14 Apr 2011 at 11:24pm PDT
The Global Link has been up and running for a while now. It seems that some bugs are still being worked out, largely due to the volume of traffic it has been subjected to.
An official announcement was posted saying that the details of how to meet your Eeveelution from the Befriend a Pokemon game are still forthcoming.
Want to get a cool new Pokemon-themed t-shirt? Head on over to Qwertee and use the promo code "Psypoke-Qwertee" at checkout to receive a 50c/40p discount on this awesome shirt. But hurry, the shirt is only available for two more days!
Have you had a chance to try out the Global Link yet? Have you run into any problems? And do you want a Pokeball-Death Star shirt?
I hope you all enjoyed our t-shirt promotion; it looks to have been well-received.
While many are still having difficulties with the Global Link, don't forget to check out the Befriend a Pokemon minigame if you haven't already. The free Eeveelution from this game will only be available until May 5th.
Speaking of special Pokemon, the 14th Movie Victini has been added to the list of Event Pokemon. This Victini knows a mostly different learnset from the one found on Liberty Island.
Now that the Global Link and Dream World are up and running, the last of the Dream World artwork (save for the three unannounced Pokemon) is available and has been added to the Picdex.
Lastly, one of our affiliates, ZeldaInformer, is once again running a Pokemon Battling Tournament. Their Black and White League is currently accepting applications. Check out the new rules for the competition, and then register yourself!
How has the Global Link been working for you? Have you enjoyed it (if you can connect)? Do you plan to participate in ZeldaInformer's new tournament?
I'd like to say I have a whole bunch of news to post since our last update, but there really isn't much. Which is fine by me, since it's finals season, so we're all busy.
If you haven't played the Befriend a Pokemon game yet, make sure you do before the end of the week, or you'll lose your chance for a free Eeveelution.
Of course, there's also the issue of what Nintendo's going to do at E3 this year. All eyes are on the rumor mill looking for hints about Nintendo's next console, which is supposed to make a playable demo appearance at the Expo this year.
For all those of you pursuing your education, good luck on your final exams as the schoolyear draws to a close.
Which Eeveelution did you pick from Befriend a Pokemon? Do you play any of the other games on the Trainer's Club site? And how are you enjoying Global Link?
And as we've reached the end of the school year, time to get back into the swing of things.
First off, a bunch of news from the Global Link. If you befriended an Eeveelution, you'll be able to pick it up starting on May 19th.
You can also pick up a special Munna C-Gear Theme, if you enter the special code from an official guidebook.
As a counterpart to that promotion, owners of the Japanese versions of the games can purchase a guidebook for access to the Porygon family. Porygon itself will be available as a Pokemon, Porygon 2 as a decoration for your Dream World home, and Porygon Z as a C-Gear theme.
Another movie-theater promotion has also been announced in Japan, this time allowing players to receive either Reshiram or Zekrom, whichever is not normally present within their game. The Events List will be updated once we have a little more information about the Pokemon being given away.
Next, there are rumors flying around about upcoming Pokemon games and when we're supposed to get official word on them. No official announcements have been made yet in regards to any upcoming games. If any of the magazines coming out in Japan this month or next month do have any information, we'll keep you updated.
Lastly, if you've been following us on our Facebook page, you'll have seen that I've been posting more often again. You may wish to follow our page there, and also sign up for our forums. Make sure you use a valid email address, or you can't register. More on that soon.

If you've been following along on our Facebook page, you'll have already heard plenty about this. As summer sets in, it's time for another contest. With a whole new region to explore, it's time once again for Psypoke Idol!
649 Pokemon just wasn't enough though. We've included alternate forms for Pokemon where the sprite actually changes between forms, and have come up with a list of 729 Pokemon.
Over the next 9 weeks, you'll help narrow that down to under 300 for the second round. From there, 5 weeks of voting will narrow down the list to 100. The month-long semi-finals will give us our top 25 Pokemon, from which only one will emerge victorious.
When voting for Psypoke Idol, you'll rank each of the Pokemon in the current group on a scale from 1 to 5 stars. You don't have to vote for every Pokemon each time (if you don't vote for a Pokemon, it has no effect on that Pokemon's score), and the top performers each week move on to the next round.
New groups start each week, so keep checking back to vote for your favorites! Who do you want to win? Who do you think will end up winning? Who's your favorite in the first group?

After a considerable amount of work, Frost has completed all the necessary revisions on Parts 3, 4, and 5 of our Black and White Walkthrough. The incredibly lengthy Part 8 has also been posted, covering all the events up through the final Gym.
There are only about 24 hours left to vote for Round 1, Group 1 in Psypoke Idol 2011. Of the 81 Pokemon there, only 30 will make it to Round 2. Vote now to make sure your favorites move on!
Before that though, I've made a change to how the BW Walkthrough displays Wild Pokemon. You can now decide which season(s) to display, to keep the tables from getting overwhelming, especially when Sawsbuck and Deerling are involved. Let me know if you encounter any problems with it.
Now then, Round 1 Group 1 of Psypoke Idol has finished, and voting for Group 2 has now begun.
After nearly 1800 votes, the winner of Group 1 was Flygon, with a 4.1397-star average. Rounding out our top 30 are Feraligatr, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Empoleon, Braviary, Dialga, Infernape, Celebi, Bulbasaur, Rhyperior, Heracross, Arceus (Steel), Reuniclus, Heatran, Machamp, Cresselia, Scolipede, Manaphy, Uxie, Torchic, Rotom (Mow), Mightyena, Slowbro, Xatu, Combusken, Darmanitan, Sawsbuck (Fall), Cubone, and Hitmontop, who had a 2.9538-star average.
Just missing out on the next round are Druddigon, 2.9489 stars; Rotom (Wash), 2.9466 stars; Mantine 2.9246 stars; Bastiodon 2.9048 stars; and Castform (Snow-Cloud) 2.887 stars.
Our bottom 5 this group were Unown T, 1.9076 stars; Unown Q, 1.8987 stars; Basculin (Red-Striped), 1.8496 stars; Unown I, 1.841 stars; and Unown B, 1.8258 stars.
A fresh batch of 81 Pokemon are now available for voting until next week. Once again, only 30 will move on to Round 2. Vote for your favorites now to ensure they make it!
Are you happy with the results of Group 1? Who would you have liked to see make it to the next round? How about this week's group; who do you want to see advance?
I've made a few performance tweaks around the site, and added some more Events to the list. I think I'm going to completely redo how we handle them to make them a bit more accommodating, though.
Anyway, Group 2 of Psypoke Idol has ended, and the voting for Group 3 has begun. Here's how last week's 2000 votes broke down.
Last week's Top 5 were a group that even Helen Keller could have seen coming, with the winner being Tyranitar, with an 4.2814-star average. Following up were Typhlosion, Rayquaza, Salamence, and Gardevoir. Rounding out the rest of the Top 30 moving on to Round 2 are Dragonair, Gallade, Luxray, Eevee, Entei, Zorua, Kyurem, Totodile, Rapidash, Haunter, Archeops, Excadrill, Bisharp, Walrein, Pidgeotto, Butterfree, Axew, Metang, Lairon, Toxicroak, Servine, Tepig, Sawsbuck (Summer), Dusclops, and Monferno, with a 2.9712-star average to make the cut.
Just missing out were Chansey - 2.9547 stars, Victreebel - 2.9202 stars, Poliwhirl - 2.8998 stars, Joltik - 2.8835 stars, and Arceus (Rock) - 2.8801 stars.
The Bottom 5 this time were Gulpin, Purugly, Barboach, Luvdisc, and Unown Y, who had a 1.8908-star average.
There's already some fierce competition for this week's Top 30, so make so you vote for your favorites. Who do you want to see move on this week, and who should get left behind? Let us know!
Owners of the 3DS are reminded to update their system. Nintendo has provided a summary and a guide to assist users in the process. Simply connect to a WiFi network, open the System Settings, and from the Other Settings menu, select System Update.
The update adds more online functionality, including an internet browser and the eShop store. As part of a promotion, the Pokedex 3D is available for free through the eShop. This app features a Unova-Region Pokedex, including full 3D models for all Pokemon, excluding the 3 still-unreleased legendaries.
A new game for the 3DS has also been announced. Super Pokemon Scramble is a sequel to Pokemon Rumble (the WiiWare game). Like Rumble, it features wind-up toys fighting in a free-for-all battle setting. The new game will be released in Japan at the end of next month.
E3 has come and gone, and all the vendors put on quite a show. Nintendo's upcoming hardware, the Wii U, features a tablet-style controller and a beefed up set of Wii hardware, backwards-compatibility included.
Some analysts were hoping for a bigger show from Nintendo, and others have expressed concerns over the potential costs of the next-generation console. Only time will tell, but from what we know right now, the console seems like it could support quite a few Pokemon titles.
Lastly, don't forget to keep voting in Psypoke Idol. It's still a pretty close race for the last few spots this week.
Do you own or want a 3DS? What about the free Pokedex app? And what are your thoughts on E3 2011 and the Wii U?

The Bottom 5 this week were Unown J with a 1.7439-star average, Unown E with a 1.7197-star average, Burmy (Sandy) with a 1.6933-star average, Unown V with a 1.6707-star average, and Unown L with a 1.6661-star average.
Emerging Powers' press release was revealed yesterday; the set comes out on August 31, has 98 cards, and will debut over 25 new Unova Pokemon to the English TCG. Most of the cards will come from the Japanese Beginning Set, Black/White Collections and Battle Strength Decks; at least two English-exclusive cards will be the main cards of the theme decks that come out on August 17: Scolipede and Krookodile.
Lastly, starting tomorrow you can find Pokemon toys and TCG cards in McDonald's Happy Meals. There are twelve cards (nine of which are exclusive to the promotion) bundled with the eight toys, and they're randomly distributed, so if you want to collect them all, either plan to eat a lot of kids meals, or make friends with a manager.
The twelve cards in the promotion are the nine cards from the Japanese Journey Partners sets - Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Munna, Sandile, Blitzle, Pidove, Klink, Zorua - as well as reprints of Alomomola, Maractus and Audino from the English B/W set. The eight toys include the Unova Starters, BW's version mascots, Zorua, Zoroark and Pikachu.
Don't forget to vote for Group 4 of Psypoke Idol. Who do you want to see advance this week (no bonus points for guessing my answer)? Are you excited about the new TCG set? Are you going to start up a summer diet of Happy Meals? Let us know!

Meant to post this the other day, but I guess it can lead off a new update.
As is tradition, there will be some Jirachi-themed giveaways in Japan for Tanabata. Cellphone backgrounds and other little freebies will be available.
Now that I've actually had a few days to stay in one place, I've also gone and updated our Black and White Videos page with two more videos. There will be more coming in the next week or so as well. You can subscribe to the YouTube channel to catch them before they're posted here, too.
Don't forget to vote in the current round of Psypoke Idol. The last few advancing spots are still very close.
Frost has been hard at work collecting the TCG cards from McDonalds. Have you picked up any of them?

Rounding out the Top 30 were Umbreon, Gengar, Kyogre, Giratina (Origin), Haxorus, Ampharos, Pidgeot, Togekiss, Squirtle, Scyther, Mudkip, Dratini, Steelix, Grovyle, Dusknoir, Riolu, Gigalith, Registeel, Electabuzz, Breloom, Kangaskhan, Slowking, Thundurus, Marowak, and Turtwig with a 3.1752-star average vote.

On a personal note, I'll be taking a leave of absence for the month of July. I'm beginning a full-time job and will be living in a hotel until my apartment is ready for me to move in at the end of the month. I'll still provide updates as I have time, but I'll be around quite a bit less than normal for the month. The other admins will have plenty to keep them busy, however. Just want to get the word out now so that my disappearance in a few days doesn't come as a surprise.
So, a lot of people have been asking about the walkthrough, as a couple of months have gone by without an update. I've just been busy with other things recently - some good, like taking care of a new stray cat; some worthwhile, like helping my father with physical labor and being selected for jury duty; and some that make me just a little nervous, such as some health concerns that I'd rather keep to myself, although it's extremely likely that I'm being a worrywart and will be just fine.
In summary: I have not yet started part nine of the walkthrough, and I don't know when I will. The bottom line, though, is that I will eventually. The Elite Four and the post-game portions of the Black/White walkthrough will be completed once I find the time and motivation to work on them. Thank you for your continued patience. -Frost
Idol Round 1, Group 6 has come to a close, despite the server issues we faced shortly after it's start. It brings to the table a Top 2 that anyone could have seen coming.
The Top 5 of the week were Charizard, at 4.4346 stars, Metagross, at 4.097 stars, Moltres, at 3.9774 stars, Alakazam, at 3.9533 stars, and Snorlax, at 3.9356 stars. Rounding out your Top 30 were Raikou, Groudon, Reshiram, Electivire, Latias, Ninetales, Volcarona, Raichu, Krookodile, Skarmory, Starmie, Cobalion, Zebstrika, Galvantula, Regirock, Zweilous, Larvitar, Swellow, Exploud, Honchkrow, Kadabra, Arceus (Ghost), Noctowl, Muk, and Dodrio.
Just missing out were Genesect, at 3.0672 stars, Seadra, at 3.0651 stars, Shedinja, at 3.0359 stars, Golduck, at 2.9623 stars, and Hariyama, at 2.9544 stars. Genesect's loss to Arceus (Ghost) may be in part due to the fact that no one can (legally) own a Genesect yet (though that did nothing to stop it's alternate forms). Another curious entry this week was Number 71 - Unown ?, with 2.0409 stars, finishing quite a bit above its fellow Unown.
For your Bottom 5, I humbly present Stunfisk, at 1.8322 stars, Unown M, at 1.7432 stars, Unown G, at 1.7222 stars, Unown H, at 1.7185 stars, and Unown U, at 1.6792 stars.
Remember Psypoke Idol is now on a Sunday-based schedule after the server issues, not the Monday-based schedule it started on. Make sure you vote before the end of the day on Saturday.
In other news, I went and fixed an annoying bug with the PsyBlogs that was screwing up the list of most recent posts. I've also typed up a new post in my PsyBlog on the subject of my month-long pseudo-hiatus, if anyone's interested in reading it.
Busy at work, etc, but here's the results from last week's Psypoke Idol.
Top 5 honors go to Mew at 4.1206 stars, Lucario at 4.0485 stars, Zekrom at 4.0275 stars, Lapras at 3.8638 stars, and Sceptile at 3.8505 stars. Rounding out the Top 30 are Samurott, Nidoking, Deoxys (Speed), Shaymin (Sky), Emboar, Mamoswine, Regigigas, Bayleef, Sawsbuck (Winter), Gabite, Dewgong, Togetic, Tropius, Keldeo, Oshawott, Chikorita, Piplup, Togepi, Drapion, Genesect (Fire), Floatzel, Tirtouga, Psyduck, Munchlax, and Arceus (Ground), who barely made it in at 2.7681 stars.
Just missing out were Abomasnow at 2.7633 stars, Arceus (Poison) at 2.7610 stars, Phione at 2.7465 stars, Emolga at 2.731 stars, and Tentacruel at 2.6931 stars. Keep voting for your favorites as Round 1 draws to a close and we start getting ready for Round 2!
I guess Jiggz has been pretty busy at work because I just noticed that the results for last week's group were never posted. The current round ends tonight at midnight but, regardless, here's the results for Round 8:
This week's top five included Lugia with 4.2723, Zoroark with 4.0525, Hydreigon with 3.9836, Articuno with 3.9067 and Absol with 3.9028. The rest of the advancing Pokemon include Charmander, Flareon, Ivysaur, Wailord, Aerodactyl, Deoxys, Regice, Terrakion, Rampardos, Poliwrath, Dewott, Porygon-Z, Manectric, Normal Arceus, Dark Arceus, Tauros, Pichu, Dragon Arceus, Spiritomb, Vibrava, Armaldo, Ice Arceus, Lanturn, Pinsir and Pupitar. Keep in mind that the top thirty is revealed on the results page whenever a new round is posted, regardless of when Jiggz or I actually get around to making the site update about Idol.
The Pokemon who narrowly missed out advancing this round were Psychic Arceus at 3.0134, Forretress at 2.904, Flaaffy at 2.9008, Quagsire at 2.8761 and Ariados at 2.8730. Meanwhile, none of the bottom five could even crack a 2.0 average: Bibarel, 1.9258; Gothita, 1.9219; Bronzor, 1.9073; Trash Burmy, 1.7964; and Plant Burmy, 1.7518.
While there's only one day left of Group 9 (and therefore Round 1), there's still time to get your vote in for this round if you haven't!

Frost is right: I've been incredibly busy at work. Thankfully, news has been rather slow. The Japanese release of Super Pokemon Scramble was pushed back to the end of this week, and I'll let Frost talk about some TCG things if he cares to, but not much else has really been going on.
EDIT: Frost has posted the ninth part of the BW walkthrough.
As far as Idol goes, we'll forgo the detailed breakdown of Round 1 Group 9 and get right into how Round 2 started off last week.
Nearly every Pokemon scored lower this round than last, meaning people are more picky about who they're giving high marks to (or more lenient in giving out low ones). Overall, the Top 20 were 0.2878 stars lower on average than they scored last round.
The Top 5 were Umbreon with 3.8825 stars, Charmander with 3.7841 stars, Jolteon with 3.7787 stars, Pidgeot with 3.7561 stars, and Rayquaza with 3.7058 stars. Rounding out the Top 20 advancing to Round 3 are Suicune, Eevee, Dratini, Glaceon, Togekiss, Gallade, Ivysaur, Kyogre, Braviary, Reshiram, Houndoom, Jirachi, Growlithe, Giratina (Altered), and Haxorus at 3.2502 stars.
Just missing out on the next round were Gliscor with 3.2436 stars, Notched-Ear Pichu with 3.2312 stars, Golem with 3.2095 stars, Togetic with 3.1821 stars, and Croconaw with 3.1511 stars. The Bottom 5 were Arceus (Ghost) with 2.7237 stars, Darmanitan with 2.7132 stars, Hitmontop with 2.6908 stars, Meloetta (Pirouette) with 2.6002 stars, and Arceus (Ground) with 2.4662 stars.
The only Pokemon to score better in Round 2 than they did in Round 1 were Togetic with 3.1821 stars, up from 3.1047 stars last round, earning 24th place; Psyduck with 3.1144 stars, up from 2.8465 stars last round, earning 29th place; and Combusken with 3.0282 stars, up from 3.0227 stars, earning 37th place.
Keep voting for all your favorites. The competition's heating up now as Round 2 moves on and we near the semifinals.

First off, Idol Round 2 is still underway. Last week's results still show a downward trend in scores, with an average of 0.2238 fewer stars across the Top 20.
Our Top 5 last week were Charizard at 4.2339 stars, Blastoise at 4.0111 stars, Blaziken at 3.9158 stars, Metagross at 3.9075 stars, and Scizor at 3.8638 stars. The rest of the Top 20 were filled out by Latios, Venusaur, Aggron, Garchomp, Alakazam, Latias, Luxray, Zoroark, Squirtle, Nidoking, Moltres, Leafeon, Darkrai, Celebi, and Krookodile at 3.4028.
Just missing out were Weavile at 3.3788 stars, Chandelure at 3.3592 stars, Kyurem at 3.3584 stars, Wailord at 3.352 stars, and Starmie at 3.2514 stars. Meanwhile, the Bottom 5 were Muk at 2.8665 stars, Thundurus at 2.8413 stars, Floatzel at 2.8391 stars, Dodrio at 2.7267 stars, and Sawsbuck (Summer) at 2.6345 stars.
Only two Pokemon improved compared to their Round 1 scores, earning a 30th place finish for Torchic at 3.1418 stars, up from 3.1210 stars, and 34th place for Togepi at 3.0862 stars, up from 3.0370 stars.
Frost has updated the Deck Dex to fix some numbering errors that affected many cards, and also to include the forthcoming Emerging Powers set.
Also on the TCG front, with Emerging Powers coming out on the 31st, TPCi has released information about the third BW set, named Noble Victories. It will contain at least 90 cards, including Victini as well as other Unova Legendary and Fossil Pokemon. Likely, it will come out in November and will contain most (if not all) of last month's Japanese Red Collection set, as well as over a dozen cards from the Victini Formation Decks and likely some Japanese promos. Except for Keldeo, Meloetta and Genesect, it should contain the rest of the Unova Pokemon who have not yet debuted in the English TCG.
Here's the results from last week's round of Psypoke Idol.
In a strange twist, one of the Top 20 moving on has actually improved in score compared to Round 1. Overall, the Top 20 was still down 0.2073 points on average, but your winner for Group 3, Lucario, was up to 4.0675 stars (from 4.0485). The rest of the Top 5 were Mew with 4.0624 stars, Flygon with 3.9116 stars, Vaporeon with 3.7778 stars, and Hydreigon with 3.7457 stars.
The Top 20 was rounded out with Kingdra, Groudon, Raikou, Empoleon, Dragonair, Ampharos, Gyarados, Scyther, Entei, Kabutops, Samurott, Quilava, Totodile, Meganium, and Haunter, who made it in with 3.3475 stars.
Just missing out this week were Wartortle at 3.3135 stars, Zorua at 3.2925 stars, Grovyle at 3.2903 stars, Sky Shaymin at 3.2744 stars, and Registeel at 3.2505 stars. The only other Pokemon to improve this round was Mightyena, whose 3.0698 stars (up from 3.0432 stars in Round 1) was enough to earn 33rd place.
The Bottom 5 this week were Vileplume at 2.7608 stars, Electric Arceus at 2.7071 stars, Houndour at 2.7003 stars, Prinplup at 2.5714 stars, and lastly Pinsir at 2.5323 stars. It's also worth noting that Pinsir fell the most this week compared to Round 1, losing more than half a star on average.
Make sure to keep voting every week for Idol and push your favorites into the next round!
Since other news has been slow lately, it's worth mentioning that if you've been thinking about buying a 3DS, Nintendo's made it a little easier on your bank. The price of the handheld dropped to $170 USD about 10 days ago. Is the new price enough of a deal to make you reconsider a purchase? Do any early adopters wish they had held out for an $80 price drop? Let us know in the Talkbacks.

For a quick news summary, there's been an announcement that a new Pokemon Center will be opening in the Sendai region, which is where the record-breaking earthquake and subsequent tsunami struck earlier this year.
Lastly, an official announcement has been made for a Zoroark Event in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The Pokemon will be available at Toys "R" Us stores starting the 18th, through the 25th in North America, and October 16th in Australia/New Zealand, as part of a month-long celebration of Zoroark itself.

Psypoke Idol is nearing the finish line. Here's the results from Round 3 Group 1. Only 10 Pokemon move on to the final round next month. Overall, the Top 5 saw an average decrease of 0.09692 stars compared to their Round 2 showings.
In a move that can't possibly surprise anyone, Charizard took first with 4.1546 stars. Rounding out the Top 5 were Tyranitar with 3.9331 stars, Typhlosion with 3.9131 stars, Flygon with 3.8644 stars, and Umbreon with 3.8613 stars. Rounding out the advancing ten were Blastoise with 3.8592 stars, Rayquaza with 3.8349 stars (improving 0.1291 stars compared to Round 2), Mewtwo with 3.8198 stars, Metagross with 3.793 stars, and Espeon with 3.7414 stars.
Four other Pokemon did manage a better showing this time around than in Round 2 as well. In 15th place, Articuno had 3.6813 stars (up 0.0127 stars), in 18th place, Kyogre had 3.6473 stars (up 0.1833 stars), in 24th place, Reshiram had 3.5595 stars (up 0.1219 stars), and in 37th place, Haxorus had 3.4165 stars (up 0.1663 stars).
This week's Bottom 5 were Rapidash with 3.152 stars, Krookodile with 3.1498 stars, Riolu with 3.0996 stars, Machamp with 3.0607 stars, and Growlithe with 3.0589 stars.
Remember, with only 10 Pokemon advancing, every vote matters more than ever. Make sure your favorites move on to the finals and Vote today!

In the final semifinals group of Idol 3, the top ten advancing Pokemon were Dragonite, 3.9502 stars; Arcanine, 3.8518 stars; Lugia, 3.7805 stars; Blaziken, 3.7698 stars; Mew, 3.7512 stars; Lucario, 3.7491 stars; Scizor, 3.7416 stars; Gengar, 3.6984 stars; Sceptile, 3.6368; and Lapras, 3.6346. As is typical in later rounds, all of the advancing Pokemon had a lower average than they had in earlier rounds.
Just missing out in the finals (and as wild cards, since all ten of Group 1's Pokemon who were the closest to advancing had higher averages than the #11 Pokemon in Group 2) included Vaporeon, with 3.6116 stars; Gardevoir, with 3.6029 stars; Suicune, with 3.6017 stars; Jolteon, with 3.5831 stars; and Dragonair, with 3.5573 stars. The bottom five of the round were Togekiss, 3.1679; Totodile, 3.1288; Dratini, 3.1271; Heracross, 3.1208; and Haunter, 3.0885.
Since this is the last round of Idol and there are no more eliminations, I've decided to let the top thirty vote-getters in the third round take part in the finals. This in particular is because Venusaur and Zekrom were in the top TWENTY of round three based on overall average, but didn't make it into the final round, which was originally planned to have twenty Pokemon, because Group 1 had much higher averages than Group 2 overall.
So in addition to the twenty Pokemon who advanced from Round 3 automatically, added to the final rounds are the remaining Pokemon with the highest overall averages: Venusaur, Zekrom, Salamence, Latios, Articuno, Swampert, Feraligatr, Kyogre, Ho-oh and Zapdos.
For games, the European release date for Super Pokemon Rumble has been set for December 2nd. Yes, this is the same game as Pokemon Rumble Blast in the US and Super Pokemon Scramble in Japan - it seems Nintendo doesn't want to call the game the same thing in any two regions.
Upcoming Events for Japan include an Anniversary Mewtwo to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of Black and White's release in Japan.
For the US, a Halloween event to obtain Banette has been announced. Note that you must be logged in to an account registered to a country where the event will take place in order to see the announcement. Little details are given, so the Events List will be updated once we know more.
In addition, a Birthday Togekiss is available to players worldwide during their birthday month. Simply log in to the Pokemon Trainer's Club to collect yours! Thanks to our forum member Cherrygrove for confirming this for us.

In more significant news, Frost has rewritten several of the entries in the TechDex for accuracy and proper use of the English language. We've also fixed the issue of the Body Style data for Gen V never being imported into the Psydex, so all the Gen V Pokemon will be accurate in that regard now as well.
So, now that Psypoke Idol is over, how do you feel about the result? Who did you want to win? Who do you think will win the competition next time?
TCG Giveaways, Tournaments, 3D Updates, and Twitter[permalink]
Posted by Jigglypuff on 13 Oct 2011 at 5:55pm PDT
News has been pretty slow lately, which is fine by me because I've been incredibly busy.
First up, the 3D Pokedex app has been updated for those of you who have a 3DS but haven't checked in a while. The update adds more functionality to the AR Viewer, but you have to manually run the update.
Next up, our friends at ZeldaInformer are running another League Challenge. If you're in to competitive battling, make sure to sign up and get started!
Then, the official Pokemon site has spun off a sweepstakes to win TCG Boxes and a grand prize including a 3DS. There are 25 winners each week, and you can register yourself once a day. The grand prize is drawn next month.
In news that I'm sure has Frost absolutely thrilled, Junichi Masuda posted to his Twitter yesterday hinting at the intent to release updated version of the Gen III titles, Ruby and Sapphire. He says the games are important to him and he wants to do well. While not an official announcement, it's certainly something worth noting.
Lastly, because myself and the rest of the staff have been so busy lately (and likely will continue to be), I've promoted two of our forum staff, Serpentsounds and Rhapsody, to the rank of Reporter and given them the ability to write up news posts for the main site here. They'll do a better job of posting news in a timely fashion than I can. Congrats to the both of them.
Sorry about the downtime today. Our hosts upgraded part of the server and things didn't get reset correctly.
Since then, I've gone and updated the Nintendo Events list with some corrections to older entries, and the current Global Link giveaways of Mamoswine and Banette.
Meanwhile in Japan, Global Link users will have the opportunity to obtain an Altaria and a Blissey later this month. Shoppers can also vote in stores on a mascot Pokemon which will be available for download early next year.
Starting next month, the Nintendo WiFi Connection will be giving away a special Victini, the same as was distributed in Japan for the release of the 14th movie(s).
On a related note, the V for Victini Sweepstakes began yesterday. Weekly prizes include toys and TCG tins, and the grand prize adds a 3DS and Black & White!
Now, as for us, we're expanding our social media efforts again. We now offer a Google+ Page that you can circle to keep up with us. This is in addition to our other pages on Facebook and Twitter, which will continue to be updated as well. The options to share our news stories will be updated accordingly.

I've added a bunch more Nintendo Events to the list. A Croagunk has been announced for nearly worldwide distribution, and more details in regards to the previously announced Blissey and Altaria have been added.
The Tohoku area of Japan, which was hit by the large earthquake and tsunami earlier this year, will be giving away a Snivy at the new Pokemon Center Store opening there.
Time is running out to Vote to Befriend a Pokemon. Currently Arceus is still in the lead, with Ditto in second and Mew in third.
Frost updated the TCG section with the recently released Noble Victories a while ago, too. Check out Frost's latest Psyblog if you want to see most of the cards of the set, as he did a booster box opening for Noble Victories as well.
Befriending a Pokemon, New Crossover Game, New Movie[permalink]
Posted by Jigglypuff on 18 Dec 2011 at 8:26pm PST
It's been a busy time for all of us, so I apologize for the lack of news posts recently. There is a bit to report now, however.
First off, the results of the Vote to Befriend a Pokemon poll have been posted. Arceus, who has no special ability in the Dream World, took first place. The password to unlock it will be revealed in February. The rest of the Top 10 from the poll are, with bolded names having special Dream World abilities, Mudkip, Ditto, Mew, Magikarp, Deoxys, Darkrai, Celebi, Pikachu, and Rayquaza.
The other big news right now (which our Facebook fans have already seen) is that a new crossover game, Pokemon Ranse, has been announced. The game mixes Pokemon with Feudal Japan, specifically the classic game series Nobunaga's Ambition by Koei - who may be better known in the English-speaking world for their Samurai Warriors games, featuring the same characters. The game is due out for the DS next year.
The next Pokemon Movie has been announced, which features Kyurem.
Global Link, Pokemon Center, and McDonald's Events[permalink]
Posted by Jigglypuff on 21 Dec 2011 at 6:10pm PST Updated on 22 Dec 2011 at 5:13pm PST
Following up the recent game announcement, here's a few other upcoming events, mostly for Japan.
The Thick Fat Mamoswine that's been available throughout Europe is now available pretty much worldwide through the Global Link, with the password POKEMONDOTCOM.
A set of 6 Pokemon who evolve into Dragon-Types will be available beginning next month in Japan. Though there are 6 different Pokemon available, there are only 4 separate distributions (one each week) and a game can only receive one egg per distribution.
Shaymin will be distributed to Black and White games in Pokemon Center stores across Japan leading up to the release of the Dragon Egg event.
The final Pokemon distribution are a pair of Thundurus and Tornadus to celebrate their appearance in the anime. Depending on which version you're playing, you'll get the one normally not available, meaning you can also unlock Landorus.
Lastly, Japanese McDonald's stores will be giving away a set of Pokemon toys in their Happy Meals for the next few weeks.
